Somewhat OT: Anyone read Nick Kent's book?

Sorry if this has been covered before. Apathy For The Devil is Kent's story from the lofty days of NME in the 70s (mostly). Lots about Iggy and Bowie and early punk, a bit about our hero Keith. Hard to believe Kent was as prolific as he was with his, ahem, lifestyle challenges. He got a few facts wrong (It's the "Forum" in LA, the "Felt Forum" was a theatre inside Madison Square Garden), but all in all, a story honestly told by a fairly reliable witness. Didn't know he was an original Sex Pistol. His quasi-religious conversion towards the end of the book struck an odd note, but hey, whatever works (and it seemed to). Not a bad read.

I read this and A Dark Stuff. As you said, not a bad read, imho.

Dark Stuff is excellent.

Apathy is good; the Dickey Betts tale of eating a raw bull is amazing.

Dark stuff was very good. Apathy is okay, but still has good moments.
I liked Kent's NME writing in the 70's.He did a lot for the Stones myth.
But I still have to laugh about his IORR review . .

Nick Kent was an excellent music journalist in his time,as were Charles Shaar Murray and Roy Carr.

Kent's books are a good read and worth your time and money.

I'm reading History of the NME which is very good.
