I wonder if the Beatles fans in Gainesville can appreciate what they're getting as a substitute. grinning smiley

Beatles ‘Lost Concert’ screening canceled, replaced with Rolling Stones film
Filed under Announcements, InsideUF (Campus), Top Stories on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. GAINESVILLE, Fla. —

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of University of Florida Performing Arts, the Specticast presentation, “The Beatles: The Lost Concert,” scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Phillips Center for Performing Arts has been canceled.

A replacement Specticast presentation, “The Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas ’78,” will be presented at the same time.

New to UFPA this season, Specticast projects pre-recorded events on the Phillips Center Main Stage in HD quality.

“The Rolling Stones: Some Girls, Live in Texas ‘78,” is a rarely seen concert film featuring the classic British rock band at the height of their fame. The film was shot as part of the Rolling Stones’ 1978 U.S. tour, which is still hailed by many fans as their best to date. Capturing both the raw talent of the band and the excitement of the audience, the film is a testament to the power of live music and the Rolling Stones as true rock legends.

This updated version of the film brings it into the 21st century, with re-mastered audio and carefully restored footage. The film also includes an interview with Sir Mick Jagger, filmed in 2011, discussing the band’s impact and providing an inside perspective on this exceptional film.

Customers can contact the Phillips Center Box Office by calling 352-392-ARTS (2787) or 1-800-905-2787 (toll-free within Florida), or by visiting during business hours – Monday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m.

What happened to the lost Beatles concert? They must have lost it. Again.

Why is it called the "lost concert"? There's been footage of the concert in question for decades now.

Yes, but they keep losing it apparently and have to keep screening something else in its place. It will be a lost concert until someone finds it again.

This new documentary sounds a lot like The First US Visit documentary by the Maysles brothers. To me, a "lost concert" would be a recording found in a dusty box in someone's attic somewhere of a concert that hasn't been seen by the masses before. But I suppose using the title "lost concert" in this case will sell more tickets. Reel 'em in!

Totally OT.

Please stick to the beaten-to-death Beatles vs. Stones subject, please. Thank You.

How would you feel if a lost Stones concert film screening was cancelled & replaced with a film on Paul McCartney? I'd be right angry.

Would the Stones lost concert film be "Let's Spend The Night Together"?

I think my reply was funnier...although I'll admit to a bias.

Why, is LSTNT available on BluRay in Canada?
We've lost ours down here...

What a rinky-dink set up! The Beatles take the stage, only to discover that the drum kit and the amplifiers are facing in opposite directions! Poor Ringo, acting as his own roadie, gives the drum riser a 180-degree spin. Then, after every third song, they turn the drums, mikes, and amps 90 degrees, so everyone in the audience gets to have the Beatles facing them ... for seven minutes! If this hadn't been filmed, you would never have believed it actually happened this way.
