I don't either, but according to a short history of rock and roll according to Keith Richards, rock and roll was destroyed fisrt by the invention and use of electric bass guitar and then Hendrix killing the electric guitar .... Keith has a funny point there, and his consistent to his own musical principles and ideals, but oh yeah...

Link to the Far Out Magazine article minus the dubious "ampproject.org" in the original post

Comments are recycled from a 2013 Linda Keith interview published in The Observer

Hate that faroutmagazine. Clickbait, more often than not bunk info, etc.

Just another shitshow to make cash from advertising.

I haven't read any of this stuff above ...but on the subject itself...

Keith sometimes tends to see things in rather bigotted shades of black and white, but in one sense I'd kind of agree with him.

Keith would likely see the guitar player and the guitar part as servants of the song and the music ...

...Wheras Hendrix [for all his undoubted genius and innovation] kind of made the music a servant of the guitar playing .

It was almost the start of rock guitar playing as a "sport" !

[Jimi of course is not the only guilty party here. EC had a hand in it and the Jazz idiom has many such offenders winking smiley]

Funny, cos the extreme combo of Hendrix's playing and Keith's image gives you many of the horrible 80's rockers. thumbs down

Maybe Hendrix ruined the guitar for Keith as he could never approach Jimi’s ability.

Here we go ...

...So the apple couldn't approach the flavour of the orange ?

...and vice versa .

Nah. It’s as close to a fact as an opinion can be. I love Keith, but give me a break. Hendrix kills Keith in pure playing ability. It’s not even close.
