As far as the Springsteen show goes, I couldn't imagine watching that dude for more than 5 minutes. I say hooray for putting him in his place.

That picture of the pelican struggling in the gulf oil spill is tasteless WeLoveToPlayTheBlues. Your decision to post it as a statement against Brits even more so. peace

Perhaps you missed "certain Brits" in that.

Tasteless none the less. That animal is struggling for it's life. peace

Tasteless maybe. But some people have forgotten.

The Chris Evans Show on BBC2 this morning pointed out that after the show had stopped, there was a fireworks display! You know, one form of noise is unacceptable but controlled explosions, that's OK!

That's equivalent to how a couple of guitar players playing in a outside bar is too loud yet the church can clang its bells for 50 some times and much louder than anything around and THAT is OK. But the two acoustic guitar players in the bar are too loud and need to shut down.

Amen, Padre!

People around here use this excuse all the time to regulate taste.

Lawn mower, barking dogs, loud music ... it's all NOISE, but somehow
THEIR noise is OK. Typical WHITE PERSON behavior.

Of course the curfew is stupid. That being said, if there is a curfew and you run past it, don't bitch if the power gets cut. You knew it before you went on. It's just doubly sad that Paul McCartney was there too, but the promoters should've known better.

I heard a story, this was about 20 years ago and I can't confirm the truth on this, but the Hollywood Bowl has (or had) an 11:00 PM curfew, and if a band went over, they were fined about $10,000 per minute.

Without irony the world was reminded of that in a whole other way recently.

Isn't life funny like that?

Sooner or later, someone had to tell Springsteen that his shows are way too long.

Yeah, about 3 hours too long.

Where was management for Springsteen and Macca during all this.
Professionals always know or should know curfew times. Especially when this one was unusally early. Why wasn't this worked out ahead of time??

Having been at the show on Saturday I can say it was really striking for anyone in the audience and on stage as well.

For a minute or so the band was still performning together with Macca but nothing could be heard anymore besides in front of stage on the monitors. So nobody had a clue what was going on. No Thanks, no good bye, no announcement at all.

If a crowd of 76.000 is left that way at the end of show in extremely muddy conditions it also becomes a security issue that was not handled well. The whole town of London is preparing for the olympics, a lot of hassle everywhere and nervous security folks on patrol and warships on the river. For a moment this could have tourned into panic, and then I guess the neighbours would not find sleep for the whole night.

Also a possible reason for the current mayor of London to state he would have let the show go on to the end (10 minutes more or so) if he had been asked...

For a city like London it was definitely poor performance, absolutely not ready to rock.

BTW I liked the show to some degree, but will never go to a show in Hyde Park again.
If not the Stones where to appear...

the greatest rock and roll band in the world - definitely
