What do the financially savvy out there think about the pros and cons in buying shares of Fender on NASDAQ?

While I would have to do more research before advising anyone on this, the sought after Fenders are in the secondary market. I'm not sure if it's a good play. It may depend on their plans to expand their company. It this point I feel more comfortable adding to my position in Apple, even at around $600 a share.

Buy an actual vintage Fender instead. It will appraise better than Fender shares, and you can't make music on those stock certificates.

I wouldn't invest in Fender, there are much better guitar manufacturers out there.

You would only be investing in the name.

Really old Fenders are the only thing good about Fender.

Yeah.. custom shop makes some nice guitars but I don't think that's where Fender make their money (if they still make money).

That's why they set up Squier and Fender Mex.

I suspect in the present economic climate, buying a new (overpriced) guitar is not top of peoples priority list.

And then there's always eBay.

Stay away from the stock market unless you like to be violated and robbed...

Indeed, unless you have inside information.

Same as betting on horses.

Only those in the know win.

It's a mugs game for most people.

Investing in things you believe in pays dividends above and beyond the usual ones. Guitar sales are at all time high's these days and you can bet Fender has a plan of capilizing on that growth. Could be fun just to force yourself to think about guitars every time you check the out the market.

I have some fenders from the early 60's and some from the 2000's. They all play very well. I am constantly amazed at the sound and playability some of the inexpensive new Squire stratocasters. Computer controlled design and manufacturer makes the physical guitars amazingly consistent. They are sure based on a good design. Some of the magic may be gone but any player will tell you, Fender still has it going on. Tele's and Strats will continue to have a long successful run. peace

I have two vintage Teles and a Jazzmaster. Each one has appreciated far better than the stock market.

Yeah Tele, but I get the feeling you may never realize that gain because if you are like me, how can you possibly sell them? I have mixed feeling about the collectors who buy the Gibson's and Fender's for investment only. Poor guitars are doomed to be mute for quite some time in most cases. My kids are smiling big at my guitar sentimentality. lol peace

I have a colleague at work who collects (then sells) vintage and expensive guitars. Some he's had for years and others for a very short time. The way it's become profitable for him is that he allows himself to own between 20 and 22 guitars at all times. When he wants to buy #23, he must sell one.
