I've never seen this one before (thankfully, I might add) Anyone know the story on it? (Jagger looks like Bowie in the Ashes to Ashes video)

Dunno, but it's one of the most interesting pictures I've seen of him in three decades.

Oh man. That's just...awful. Why do those English people like doing that?

It's taken in the garden of Micks French country house.
He throws house parties there where everyone does drag.
Well, he did, dunno if he does now.

The photo was taken in 1996 by Brigitte Lacombe

From an interview with the photographer....

Quote

What's the strangest suggestion that a celeb has made for a portrait?

Brigitte Lacombe:
The only thing that was actually not even suggested but just kind of imposed was Mick Jagger [dressed in full makeup and drag with Jerry Hall]. I would never have asked him. I never would have thought it myself.

However beautiful Mick might have been in the past, his androgynous beauty never translated to looking good as a woman. He looks ghastly there, as he does in 'Bent'.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Mick has nothing feminine to him, that's what these pics show so obviously. I've never seen anything androgynous in him: he plays it, like an actor, but he doesn't have it.

Jerry Hall on the contrary has a mannish face, with those enormous jawbones and that broad forehead. Like Bianca also had typically mannish features.

He does of course play the role like an actor but you can't fake androgyny, you either are or you aren't and Mick is an icon in that area.

I had already seen that pic years ago and had always hated it.
It scares me.
I prefer the androgenious Jagger in 73...much more sexy imo.
I never liked carnivals....

I saw this years ago...early 90s?....this was when Mick was at his most pseudo/aristo....gad flying around the British aristocracy - tea parties, weekend society soirees in which a bunch of decadent rich people were encouraged to be ....decadent and indulgent....etc.....
Mick had always liked to flirt with that crowd, but this was at a time when those people were the only people Mick seemed to associated with.. he seemed to become part of that ilk...from about 86-on, when he moved back to London. Not a good look or image. I remember thinking: 'what happened to the guy who wrote all those great songs?'
He seems to have abandoned that crowd since...thankfully.

I don't get it, please enlighten me Brits. What is it about dressing up like this that appeals to the aristos? Is this some sort of tradition? I agree he looks scary and just plain silly.

Mick and Jerry were into those aristo lifestyle pretensions far more than he and Bianca ever were.
Not a good look or image. I guess Mick had to get it out of his system and Jerry went along with anything.
sorry for the double posts....still figuring out my Mac

It's just a bit of fun latebloomer. Men dressed up as ladies is funny and women dressed up as men can be oddly attractive.
