ISO: IORR LP with longer "Luxury," slower "Fingerprint File" and longer "Time Waits for No One"

Hi Everyone,

In 2011, the "It's Only Rock-and-Roll" album was re-released with a longer "Luxury," slower "Fingerprint File" (correct speed), and a longer "Time Waits for No One" on CD.

The 2011 HR cut platinum "It'S Only Rock 'N' Roll" (UICY-4031) SHM-CD is by far the best release of the "It's Only Rock-and-Roll" album.

I'm hoping to find "It's Only Rock-and-Roll" the same on LP with the longer "Luxury," slower "Fingerprint File" (correct speed), and the longer "Time Waits for No One."

I haven't followed Rolling Stones LP releases much but I'm following/researching Rolling Stones vinyl..

Since I haven't heard of "It's Only Rock-and-Roll" the same on LP with the longer "Luxury," slower "Fingerprint File" (correct speed), and the longer "Time Waits for No One," I presume that there is no "It's Only Rock-and-Roll" LP with the longer tracks.

It's apparent that "Luxury" they cut short and "Fingerprint File" were sped up to fit on the LP format. I don't think the length of an LP has improved over the years, although they could make the label smaller to add more time for the recordings. Of course, automatic turntables would have a problem with a longer playing surface, unless the LP's recorded content went only into the blank space (dead wax I've heard that area called) were the matrix numbers are etched.

I'm always looking for longer versions and different mixes of every Rolling Stones song. It's a passion and hobby that never ends!

HR CUTTING (HIGH RESOLUTION CUTTING) PRESSED ON PLATINIUM CD, Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP) "It'S Only Rock 'N' Roll" SHM-CD 2011

Were there any other releases from this series of releases with anything special too?

I've heard that another version of "It'S Only Rock 'N' Roll" was released on CD in 2001 also from Japan. I believe the non-platinum IORR that wasn't a SHM-CD didn't have the longer tracks. I'm not sure it that statement is true.

Our IORR group has to be the best people! Thank you for your constant help and dedication to the Rolling Stones and us fans.

The 2020 Vinyl-reissue seems to have the same Track-durations like the 2009 CD - [www.Discogs.com] , [www.Discogs.com] . 2011 SHM-CD - [www.Discogs.com] . 2018 Vinyl-Box - [www.Discogs.com] .

Isn't the 2018 box half-speed mastered, which is basically the same as the 2020 vinyl releases?

Should be the same - maybe there's a typo in the 2018 tracklist on Discogs for 'Fingerprint File' - but the pictures of the LP-labels say 6:33 for both, 2018 Vinyl-Box and 2020 separate Vinyl.

pbthal neddledrop for IORR from 2020 LP box has:
Luxury 5:04
Fingerprint File 6:43
Time Waits for No One 6:49

So called Japanese flat transfers from 2011 issued on SHM-SACD and SHM-CD
Luxury 5:03
Fingerprint File 7:01
Time Waits for No One 6:48

Luxury and Time Waits for No One are identical (do not pay attention to that +-1 sec) while Fingerprint File is not the same.

AFAIK you can find those versions on these records/cd's:

IORR - CD (4502022) [www.discogs.com]
-Luxury (short version) 4.31 (I think the short version is rarer than the longer one)
-Fingerprint File (fast version) 6.33
-Time Waits For No One (short version) 6.39

IORR - CD - Collector's Edition [www.discogs.com]
-Luxury (long version) 5.02

IORR - SACD (sorry, i have no cd number)
-Fingerprint File (speed corrected version) 7.01
-Time Waits For No One (long version, endless metronome at the end) 6.48

Time Waits For No One (Anthology 1971-1977) - LP (COC 59107) [www.discogs.com]
-Time Waits For No One (long version, endless metronome at the end) 6.48

These "longer" versions are on the Japanese SACD which I have. But I have no possibility to rip SACDs (is there any at all?).

Yes: it needs an early Sony Playstation 3 with special software.

Yes. But you'll need an old Sony PlayStation 3 and do some mumbo-jumbo with sacd-ripper version 0.21 application (maybe this is out of time and there is a newer version).

EOMS SHM-platinum CD [UICY-40001], SHM-CD [UICY-75762] and SHM-CD [UICY-79242] Almost every track has different fade-out with respect to their counterparts from 1986, 1994 and 2009 CDs. Those differences are not critical but worth mentioning for completist. Also, the whole record is slightly off pitch; it runs a bit slowly with respect to previous editions (total time 1h. 07min. 38 sec. for Japanese CDs vs. 1h. 06min. 35 sec. for CBS CD). It can be a big problem if you can hear the difference between 440Hz and 438Hz. Otherwise, you will get an extra minute of music winking smiley.

I'm definitely too old for a Playstation 3 with special software for SA-CD's. I can only play Pong on TV, but hardly anyone knows the 70s tele-game. Every newer game is too much for me. eye rolling smiley So it's good, that there are specialists for everything here.

I'm a little slow sometimes with figuring out some responses even though they are clearly written, such as the posts above. I think I get it...

The longer "Luxury" is over 5 minutes. The longer "Luxury" was never released on LP. The longer "Luxury" was only released digitally in 2011 on UIGY-9068 SACD (pictured below) and UICY-4031 Platinum SHM-CD (first post).

Never trust the times listed on Discogs as they are often wrong as they are here [www.discogs.com]

Any corrections to my thoughts listed here?

Thank you very much for your help! IORR people are awesome!

UIGY-9068 SACD 2011 time of Luxury listed as 5:09

No. The long version of Luxury was in digital domain on Virgin (1994-2009) and UM (2009 onward) CDs. The fact some discs have +-2-3 sec in timing is usually related to pre-gaps and gaps between the tracks. I.e. it depends how your player reads the disc and how those gaps are included in timing calculations.

Sorry, but
the longer "Luxury" is over 5 minutes. The longer "Luxury" was released on LP, I actually never saw the short version on vinyl. But my LP is from around 1978, a "PAX" version from Israel. The longer "Luxury" was also released digitally on the Collector's Edition and on Hi-Res releases. It's the shorter version, that was released in 1986 on the (german) CD's. But who knows, how many versions are circulating? Now everyone might be worried, I better stop here...

In 1986 on CBS CD all over the world. But those CDs were newer pressed in Germany. They were made in Japan, Austria, US, Canada and Brazil between 1986 and 1993.

"Fingerprint File" is the closing track from the Rolling Stones'
1974 album It's Only Rock 'n Roll. It is one of their first attempts to branch
out into dance or electronic music, and the song resembles music by Sly and
the Family Stone. Key ingredients of the song are the rhythm guitar played by
Mick Jagger, which features heavy phasing due to the use of the MXR Phase 100
effects pedal, and the highly jazz/funk-oriented bass guitar played by Mick
Taylor. Keith Richards uses the wah-wah pedal for his guitar part. Bill Wyman
is on synthesiser, Charlie Watts on drums, Billy Preston on clavinet, and
Nicky Hopkins on piano. Charlie Jolly Kunjappu is featured on the tabla.

The lyrics express frustration over government monitoring and surveillance activity.
