Welcome to New York 1972

The story of the 1972 MSG recording is well know (if even factual) from a stolen tape from the board.

I have 2 question regarding this:

1. Why has the first half of the show never surfaced?

2. If the tape was actually stolen I would think the thief would be a legend even more well known than Mike Millard. How come this legend of a human being never come forward to claim the well deserved accolades?

1. Because he did not steal the first tape?

2. Because he is a thief?

He was too dumb to realize the 1st part of the show was on the A side of the cassette he snapped. He only listened to the B side, made dubs for friends... and the rest is history!

Therefore for fear of being labelled "Dumbest stones fan ever" he kept quiet till now.
After all these years I can now reveal he was a NY'er, born 1946 in June and his 1st name is Donald...

I assume YCAGWYW was on Side B then, given that's the side he listened to.

This source started it's underground life on the 'smoking pig' edition of Trade Mark of Quality, so 'Ken' got the tape somehow.

Maybe it will come out in the new TMQ book due in September...

I hope that a new string of From the vault-releases will see the light of day soon - releases with just sound and no video
