OT: Humble Pie "Thunderbox" Reconsidered

Humble Pie was on a downward trajectory by 1974 and when it came out I passed on this record- the reviews were unflattering (and its now common knowledge that Steve Marriott was a coked out drunken mess during ths period.) Revisited recently after all these years, thanks to Youtube. It rocks! A couple duff tracks but still very enjoyable. Any fans of this LP?

Never really a fan because Marriott's voice usually killed my nerves after a while and the music was for the most part pretty generic hardrock without any strong song material, but strangely enough I have a soft spot for "Thunderbox".

I'll take "Eat It" over "Thunderbox" any day.

"Thunderbox" fails on a basic level: it's boring.

"Street Rats" really sounds like it was made by a "coked out drunken mess" in that the wheels seem to be coming off, but at least it's an interesting ride.

One of my favorite album.
Memorable jacket art by Hipgnosis and nice cover songs like Oh La-De-Da or Ninety-Nine Pounds.

Incidentally, their glory days live album at Shibuya Tokyo in 1973 was released yesterday.

Here is a snapshot of their sightseeing in Kyoto.

I always thought Thunderbox was a very good album.
