OT: Martin Scorsese's The Irishman
Posted by: keefriff99 ()

[youtu.be]

Robert De Niro, Al Pacino's first collaboration with Scorsese (surprisingly), Joe Pesci coming out of retirement, plus the great Harvey Keitel....

Looks very interesting...the de-aging technology being employed is still a bit hit-or-miss, but generally looks decent.

I figured I'd post this because you just KNOW the Stones will end up on the soundtrack.

Big problem! The rights to this film belong to NETFLIX so it may never appear in regular cinemas...or if it DOES appear, I just read it will be limited to a handful of cinemas. Of course being a " Marty film", you can bet there will be great Stones music, I just hope we all get to see it!

Most of Marty's film are on Netflix
so he musta cut a deal with 'em …..

have you seen Hangman with al pacino, the anti aging software sucks, but if you want to watch an old school 70/80's movie then its great

The filmmakers said all the actors would be de-aged when the project was announced. You can see it pretty clearly on De Niro's face when you watch the trailer.

De Niro is 75, Pesci is 76, and Pacino is 79...all considerably older than the characters they're playing in the film (Frank Sheeran (De Niro) was 43 in 1963, and Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino) was 50).

Marvel has been using the de-aging tech pretty often in their films the last few years...they've de-aged Robert Downey Jr., Michael Douglas, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, and Clark Gregg (among others) all to varying degrees of success. It can either look amazing or very uncanny valley.

I bet they used that de-aging
tech stuff for the that latest Lion King movie ….

@ keefriff99 :
thx for the horrific info about digital facelifts. grinning smiley
I see two good news out of this : De Niro will be able to end his career on a high note (and not one of these silly flicks where he caricatured himself) and the new Scorcese's film doesn't feature DiCaprio.

It's all good!

Speaking of the bizarre de-aging digital facelift procedures, stumbled upon this video recently and was quite bewildered.
Watch Bill Hader's face morph into Arnold...and then morph back to his own....quite bizarre like a bad acid trip.

Bill Hader impersonates Arnold Schwarzenegger

While it's really cool and might have some great uses for movies, etc, I imagine some evil people in the world can and will use it in diabolical ways.

Technology run amok!

Here's another featuring Hader as Al Pacino and Arnold again:

Bill Hader impersonates Al Paciono and Arnold Schwarzenegger

How the hell did that person do that?? Apparently it's just some amateur YouTuber...eerie and extremely accurate!

When I first watched it, I had no idea about the face morphing...just wanted to see Bill Hader impersonate Arnold.
Then suddenly had to do a double take...wtf is going on here lol...thought my eyes were deceiving me!
Creepy stuff!

I really enjoyed this movie immensely. I find Scorsese to be hit or miss for me, in terms of enjoyment. What I like I really enjoy, and others somehow just miss the mark for me.

It needs a good edit....way too long...I think it is very over-rated!
