Their airplane - what happens?
Posted by: james3333 ()

Hi there,

for a long time the Stones have their own airplane.

Now the tour has finished in Paris - but their plane is stuck in London Stanford - after they arrived there - BEFORE they all went back home or somewhere else.

So my questions are

1) Are they usually flying back together with their Tour-plane?
- are they splitting up after the last concert of a tour?

2) What a preference of tour-planes do they have (Airline, Type of Airplane etc)
- call me stupid, but until not long ago I thought they "own" the Rolling Stones - Airplane! - this ist not the case (although probably every one of them has the financial background to own such a plane)

---
You can check the last position of the Stones airplane - used for the NO Filter Tour 2017 in Europe here (plane code is ZS-NEX - radar code is ARN01A
[www.flightradar24.com]
(unfortunately only the last 7 days free of payment )

I would have to assume it's just a short lease and a paint job. For all we know the plane is flying for an airline as we speak.

Many big stars have their own personal airplanes but I am not aware of any of the Stones having their own airplanes right now. It seems really extravagant. Johnny Depp is in financial trouble because of his outrageous extravagant lifestyle. He was spending something like $15K a month just on wine and the bean counters told him that his diminishing revenue generating capability as an actor was not going to be able to keep up.

2) What a preference of tour-planes do they have (Airline, Type of Airplane etc)

The Airplanes (B767, B737) were only 'rented' in the last years - from Aeronexus, GainJet Aviation, Air New Zealand or Swift Air.

Not to forget the B757 they rented from PrivatAir for the Licks Tour. That aircraft had a real VIP cabin. Was inside that aircraft somewhat later in Frankfurt airport.

I had been led to believe they leased these and never purchased them.

I was say that is patently obvious. There's no way they'd spend millions on an aeroplane for use 9-10 weeks a year and sit idle on runway tarmac for the other 42/43.

What I want to know is what became of the scale model of the airplane that I think Revell announced it was going to release?

I mean, they put out the Who's "Magic Bus" model, how come not the Stones plane?

Not wanting to get off topic here, but do you think any of the Jefferson's had airplanes?

HA HA HA HA HA HA are "we" speaking now?

The Stones lease planes. Sure they could HAVE their own but it makes zero financial sense. When they fly as individuals, commercially ie chartered, they do it because it makes sense. Even John Travolta gave up his 707.

Speaking of the Airplane, I always preferred Signe Toly Anderson over Grace Slick.

Come on now. Signe’s version of Chauffeur Blues is transporting.

I completely forgot about that scale model, but it looks like sold out on most sites, but strangely enough only one site says "cancelled":

There are also two sites which still sell this item, but I'm not sure if they are realy trustworthy and safe:
