This is awesome. Charlie actually talks. Great history, what little there is, with the early Stones, Bill leaving, and his expressiveness about what has meant the most to him musically is the record he had just recorded.

A very good interview indeed, thank you GasLightStreet. It is really admirable that Charlie Watts organized a project like that in the nineties, simply to play the music he loves.

It is. But it was Costas' show - presumably Lauer was standing in for him at this time (October 1993)

Its an excellent interview. Whilst he always looks embarrassed to be there at Stones press calls, I love hearing Charlie wax lyrical about subjects he's clearly so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about. Such a disarmingly modest man.

This is great. I really enjoyed it.. I love Charlie. He always makes out he doesn’t enjoy it but the smiles and yes concentration when he’s playing.. he enjoys it!!

Actually Charlie was interviewed by both Lauer and Bob Costas in two separate interviews back in 1993 while promoting "From one Charlie".

I believe it was Lauer who said it was his most difficult interview he had done up till that time.
