I wasn’t sure if it warranted it’s own thread, but as so many here appreciate his character and fundraising efforts, I thought I would start one.

Rest in peace, Sir

Just heard it on BBC news and very sad that Pneumonia and Covid were the two things that caused his passing.

He had a good life and lived to the grand age of 100,and really made the most of the last year with his achievements.

R.I.P. Captain Sir Tom Moore

While it's become a meme / T-Shirt / Poster etc. Sir Tom typified the English creedo of "Keep Calm and Carry On"

This man would not be held back by age or fatigue

His strength and endeavour stand as a shining example of the fortitude of the WW2 generation who faced down evil and triumphed

That photo of him being knighted by the Queen is iconic in almost too many ways to count. Two old warriors, still (just about) standing. So sad that his time finally ran out, but a life so well-lived. RIP, Captain Tom.

He was a real inspiration to the older people in the UK , and also the youngsters as well.

Such a genuinely nice, humble man who always looked on the bright side and the whole nation mourns his loss as well as his loving family.

You bet it does. In times of strife Capt. Tom stood up for us all and showed us what the world can be like if we help each other.

What a shame! (hee, wasn't that a great song by the Rolling Stones?)
Okay, many think that this miserable corona crisis will simply be solved by saying prayers, but so far ...
How would one call this? "Reverse Racism"?
Captain Tom was an old man with a desire to do something about the misery that, meanwhile, killed 110.000 Brits ... of any kind of race.
His act was simple, but the outcome was amazing! As long as the human race will be around, he will be remembered.thumbs up

That racist idiocy from a thick-as-a-brick, self-regarding @#$%& vicar forces us to remember the utter stupidity of most of the clergy. The Spanish republicans had it about right.

He inadvertently became a focal point for a lot of good energy over the summer - and we needed one - he seemed like a nice bloke - pity he died of covid all the same......confused smiley

On a lighter note....I heard that he was given an Honourary promotion in the army - From Captain to Colonel - missing out the rank of Major in the process............someone had their eye on the ball ........ otherwise, Major Tom...........grinning smiley

Well, he was 100! But no, natural causes would've been far more appropriate.
