EW can exclusively reveal that the Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire will join Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger on Saturday Night Live on May 19. The finale is Jagger’s first time carrying the whole show, though it’s his third time as a musical performer. In that regard, Grohl can teach him a thing or two. Between Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Them Crooked Vultures, Grohl has taken the SNL stage nine times.

If anyone had any doubts about the state of the current Rolling Stones, this puts them to rest. Can you imagine if 10 or 20 years ago the Stones and Mick Taylor were all assembled in New York, and AT THE SAME TIME Mick Jagger performed on SNL with another group? Horrible. And stupid. Did I say "horrible"?

Mick, forever the trendee, still seeking acceptance from contemporary audiences. Interesting band choices, and performing with them aren't really an affornt to the Stones but does make Mick seem a bit like he's still trying to be hip and cool to those three and four decades his junior. Sad really. But at the same time you have to hand it to him, he still challenges himself but in this case, it's a lot of work-he needs two separate bands?? and for what? It's no longer a question of who between Mick and Keith have a chip on their shoulder, moreso which one's chip is bigger. In Mick's case it's as if his legacy with the Stones is like this shadow looming large over him that even at this late date he's still trying to outrun.

Still, I suppose it wouldn't surprise me to see the Stones actually performing together on the SNL stage that night. But "if" it were to happen, I'd imagine they'd either do it at the very beginning or end of the show.

To be honest I never believed in the Stones playing there live.
They are far to unrehearsed to come back to such a big audience. But perhaps they could still do another trainwreck of Miss you . .

jesus christ, can you guys not think outside the box? so it's not The Stones. Mick with Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters might be pretty awesome. In fact, I bet it will be. Because I'm not looking at the performance angrily! Give it a chance before you crap all over it! Are you not fans of Mick Jagger? If he's not playing with The Stones would you rather he retire and not make new music?

I don't know anyone who thinks Arcade Fire is trendy or lacking in soul. It's OK if you're ignorant concerning popular, current, bands, but it's best to not try and seem like an authority on them in that case.
