How does one determine what "best" is in art? Is there a machine I am unaware of? Did someone invent a scale to mathematically declare the best whatever?

Now, if you want to talk favourites, that's a different story.

60s: Jumping Jack Flash//Gimme Shelter
70s: Brown Sugar//Rocks Off
80s: Undercover Of The Night//She's So Cold
90s: Saint Of Me//YGMR
00s: Rough Justice//ONNYA
10s: Claudine//Tallahasee Lassie

As there is no actual definition of 'rockers', I've taken this to mean fast paced rock tunes, no mid-tempo/groove type tunes.

I've added second place finishes for each decade...

Under the Radar is not a 'rocker'...what is wrong with you?!
...and Out of Control is practically jazz.

60s Live With Me
70s Rip This Joint
80s Hang Fire (although Sad Sad Sad is pretty good)
90s Flip The Switch
00s Rough Justice

Since the only thing they released in the Twenty Tens is something from 1978/79 it's Tallahassee Lassie by default.

These are VERY hard choices to make, but off the cuff:
60's - JJF
70's - All Down The Line
80's - She Was Hot
90's - I Go Wild
00's - Rough Justice
10's - Live version of Midnite Rambler from LA Friday. (Oh well, I know it's not from the 10's but they officially released it in the tens) confused smiley

True, but by that logic, we can't vote for almost the entire album Tattoo You for the 80s either...

60's- JJF
70's- Can't You Hear Me Knockin'
80's- Tie You Up (Pain of Love)
90's- Saint of Me
2000- Under the Radar
2010's- Plundered My Soul. I believe you can count this as it was never released and Jagger added new lyrics and vocals with new guitar and participation from the other stones, so this should be counted as a bonafide new release.

One thing I think we can agree one - the levels of quality of output from this band over the years, IF ANYTHING - is radically, mind-blowingly inconsistent.

Kinda dissapointed to read that on a Stones board. Although a portion of the songs on Tattoo You were from past sessions, the overall collection of songs was presented to the public as an official album. The bonus disks on "Exile" or "Some Girls" are just that--bonus material. Not at all a seperate entity that is dubbed as a "new" album. They were a collection of 30 year old unifinished tracks that were later finsihed and tagged on to a Special Edition of the album from which the tracks were originally intended to be used.

I don't think you need to be disappointed as DP's view is valid. In fact, the deluxe Some Girls cuts work incredibly well as an album in their own right, probably even more cohesive in terms of vibe than Tattoo You (not saying I like it better, just that musically, it is a tighter fit).
