That whole first side of Tattoo You sounds like they just threw together some sounds in a hurry to fill it out after Start Me Up.

You might be right about that. However...
The riff has the feel of the Talk is Cheap album. It is indeed a cool riff!
But I just don't like the lyrics... Perhaps too commercial, too personal, too polished. The lyrics also lack some nastiness...
I remember being so excited when Steel Wheels and Mixed Emotions came out, and I really dug the song back then. 1989 was the Stones' year in USA.
The Desert Trip version was quite bad, had no life in it.

The Desert Trip version imo is embarassing.

It's a GREAT song and the (now not so) recent circulation of the Art Collins tapes describes in details how they went from the 75 raw lenghty jam to the superb track on TY.

I won't spoil it for you (listen to the boots yourself) but it's a testimony to the band's (well Jagger and Richards) keen ear.
The "intermediary" 1980 versions (pre-Rollins) were nothing but awful but the band's acute musical sense made them realize they had to take another route : in 1981 they called Sonny and turned the song into an all-time classic.

And NO it wouldn't work live. At all. winking smiley

This is a good version, but even besides the speed, I don't hear Slave.

For all Slave lovers try to check Jimmy Mcintosch version on "Orleans to London". Ronnie contribute there and with two or three other tracks.

Black Limousine is all right, but live versions were much, much better.

Yes.

... eer, maybe, I dunno.

However, it just could go on and go on for hours ... and I never would get bored. Never.

Just this must be a sign for a good song, at least for me, innit?

The Desert Trip version imo is embarassing.

Why does it have to be "in my opinion"?

You could've just as easily said, "The Desert Trip version is embarassing."

No one would question THAT. What they would question is Why do you think so?

Meaning, you provide nothing as to why.

Seeing that the whole idea of, say, a place like iorr.org, is to express an opinion, by saying "imo" to mean that anything else you say is to be taken lightly etc? Isn't EVERYTHING anyone says here "in my opinion"? Unless sourced with facts? Or does it give some kind of fake importance to what you (anyone) said?

Yes, I know - unless backed up by facts, because opinions do not require facts, opinions mean zero without facts, and everyone has one blah blah blah 'the customer is always right' - no they're not.

Seems a bit weird to me that people go through the effort of saying "imo" or "just saying" after saying something. Say it better? Or just... say it?

Of course any live version won't be better than the studio version of... unless it is...

Because... we, "we", should know what that means.

Oh Nikkei...not quite right actually, but wonderful attempt.

Perhaps because you're from Germany something gets lost in the translation somewhere?

OK...first the good news.

The first 4 Do it's? Perfect. Just a really good job on those. Congratulations, you should be pleased.

The last one though? Ummm...have you listened to the song recently?

DO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!

That's what you're hearing my friend. Maybe has something to do with masculine/feminine Der, Den, Dass...I don't know, I have a very weak knowledge of German but something is definitely throwing you off.

Repeat after me...

Do it, Do it, Do it, Do it, DO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!

Just change that last it to an "at". Think of 'it' as feminine, and 'at' as masculine. You want to end on the masculine.

AND...make sure it's all capitalized, DO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!! and have at least 6 exclamation marks after.

My work here is done.
