His touring band "The Beach Boys" is a disgrace to their legacy.

"I listened to Pet Sounds last year after reading about The Beatles finding it to be so influential.
What a piece of crap album. THAT influenced The Beatles? They really were doing a lot of drugs to find that album to influence them".
Priceless - you listen to an album 42 years after it came out and condemn it as a piece of crap.
The 30 million people who bought it (including the Beatles) must've been wrong then.

I have seen Mike Love's Beach Boys and I've also seen Brian Wilson and the Wondermints version of the Beach boys. They both have something to offer.
Remember Mike Love was the lead singer in over 50% of the original Beach Boys hits (guestimate) - his nasal vocals are as important to the original sound as Brians harmonys.
Like Paul McCartney sings 'his' Beatles songs when performing live - Mike LOve tends to sing the Beach boys songs he contributed too. His 'Beach Boys' band are not too exciting, but neither is Brians to be honest.
Brian is Brian and everybody loves Brian for his excentricity and his genius - his performance is far from flawless, he relies heavily on his back up singers. I have to say, when I saw Mike Love, his vocals were pretty much up to the mark, he played 2 sets lasting about 3 hours, sang everything and more.
Give him a chance - he's ok.

Read Nick Kent's account of The Beach Boys in his book, "The Dark Stuff". Also, a riveting account of the Stones' 1973 European tour.

I agree. Mike is like the guy at work who shows up every day, does his job, does it well, works hard, gives the customers their money's worth, and is basically a decent guy who makes up for his somewhat limited natural gifts with an impressive work ethic.

I agree with pretty much everything except this hate for 'Kokomo'....nice throwback single to the early Beach Boys...love the song.
