Thanks

Fantastic!

The island, museum, area, and concert in Twickenham '18 rank amongst my favorite all time Stones memories.

Thanks for posting this!

Really enjoying this Green Lady, thanks so much to you, and to Lien for the link. I know you live in the area...do you have any memories of the Island or the Station House, or was it way before your time?

It was (annoyingly) just before my time: girls in my class at school talked about their older brothers and sisters going to Eel Pie Island, but I was a year or two too young to go somewhere with the kind of reputation it had. Of course we were all fans of the Stones anyway, listened to the records, watched them on Ready Steady Go, but I never got to go and scream in person. I still have, somewhere, my wooden school ruler with "Mick Keith Brian Bill Charlie" scratched into it.

Unlike Liverpool with its Cavern and Beatles tourism, the area doesn't trade much on its musical past, though the new Eel Pie Island museum is doing well. The Island Hotel is long gone. The Station Hotel building has gone through many changes of ownership but it's still there opposite Richmond station. Of course many people from that time, fans and musicians, still live in the area, and the present Eel Pie Club is a good place to meet some of them. I haven't been able to get there much lately, so it was nice to see some familiar faces in the documentary.

Thanks Green Lady. A wonderful documentary and a nice way to start another day in seclusion. What a scene it must have been to be there in its heyday.
