Awesome, thanks for posting. My sentiments: interesting though it was, did it shed any significantly new light on what most of us who have thought about it for more than 30 seconds have long ago figured out ? No, not really. But perhaps with increased public awareness as a result of the program, maybe the issue of legislating against this kind of activity will once again be debated in government ? Hope so.

Thanks for the heads up paulywaul...can't believe I missed a thread that was already posted so recently. I had just gone through this ticket hell just last week when I was trying to get Beach Boys tickets...so this video couldn't have come at a better time for me. Like you said, I hope it finally starts to turn some heads and actually have some action done one day.

Yeah, it's been posted before but it can't be re-posted enough. This is the BIGGEST RIPOFF on the planet! The artists are getting ripped off, the fans are getting ripped off and these mescriants are getting rich!

Maybe we're lucky most of us are getting to the point where our favorite bands and ourselves won't be doing this much longer. I've already had thoughts that I may not be able to see the next Stones because of reasons like this. What a way to end it though. Oh well.

OMG, what a truly depressing thought ... that it should end like this ? With Viagogo and the like stuffing large quantities of Stones tickets into the shredder, because as expensive as they're likely to have been at face value, the greedy bastards weren't quite able to shift them all at the kind of insane inflated prices they'd no doubt have been asking.

Excuse me people, I'm now officially depressed at the mere thought of it. That's it then, the final long walk out to some nice secluded spot, a quick fumble with a large calibre revolver, and ..... later folks !!

Hello,

You want the truth?

"Live Nation has never listed tickets in the secondary market without the participation of the artists or management," Live Nation COO for International Paul Latham told Music Week. "Indeed, when we have, the allocation is not more than 3% of the total available tickets for sale."

Ah, it's only 3%. Would the best seats make up that 3% by any odd chance? @#$%&, all.

In other news, have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers,

Simon.

eye rolling smiley OK, we'll just accept a bland press statement by Live Nation at face value. It's self-evidently "The Truth". No need for any further questions. Move along, nothing to see here.

Hello,

Some warming words from StubHub's head of comms:

"It’s not necessarily brokers or scalpers buying up those tickets early on. Those tickets are just never made available, period. What you end up seeing are backdoor deals where the promoter, venue and artist either sell those tickets to brokers as a way of guaranteeing themselves some income, or they list it on the secondary market themselves."

Makes you feel a bit happier about it all, no? (Sarcasm alert for the benefit of Father Ted there.)

" We’ve seen reports where only 13 percent of the tickets ever went on sale to the public. There’s a vibrant business — with the promoters, venues and artists — on our website. I can tell you for a fact that I know a number of artists and promoters list substantial amounts of tickets for their tours through StubHub, because that’s probably what they want to charge for a ticket, but can’t do so publicly."

The rest of the short interview is here: [evolver.fm]

Further Friday feelgood news? StubHub are launching in the UK very soon.

Cheers,

Simon.

wonder if any tix from the Ronnie presale weren't available this AM? Being held back? It'll only take the whiff of 'Stones reunion' in the press and the tix will be worth a fortune.

I wanted one and kept being refused because you can't leave one seat isolated.

GR: (If you're still trying) I bought mine through HMV and had no problem buying a single.

I visited both Ticketbastard and HMV this morning - HMV offered me Row G, Ticketbastard wanted to put me in Row X (as well as all the rubbish about single tickets). Guess who I went with.
