I don't think this obscure 1971 single has been released on CD until this new collection...

The "George Jackson" single featured the same song on both the A-side and B-side of the 45.
One side was a so-called 'big band' version to differentiate from Dylan's solo acoustic version on the reverse side.
The big band version is the one found on the Austrailian album and CD release "Masterpieces".
Dylan's solo acoustic performance (IMHO the better of the two) has never been on CD anywhere in the world until its release on the "Listen, Whitey" collection.

I used to play the 45 at my college radio station. And yes, the solo acoustic version is the version.

So, what Dylan vinyl 7"s remain unavailable on CD/digital release? I count:

"Let It Be Me" ('81)
"Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground"
"Band Of The Hand"

I'm fairly sure the '66 live "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" was on a box set from The Band.

What am I forgetting?

if you gotta go go now, his rarest 7" I think, not the take on the bootleg series!

BEWARE this release if you're buying it for "George Jackson" -- it's a cruddy-sounding dub of the single. You can hear the surface noise of the record!

Very disappointing.

Columbia is releasing a 50th Anniversary box set for $300 in the Autumn of every Dylan track ever officially released. The rarities mentioned are expected with the acoustic "George Jackson" noted in the press release that came out earlier this week.

But THAT doesn't take much work, Rockman -
don't see how you can compare it with Maggie's Farm at all - in fact; milking the music-business-cow is the opposite of of doing the hard labour work

Bob Dylan is one of the few "stars" I can think of who has seldom if ever been ripped off. He definitely respects money.

Hi Rockman;
yes I guess they can; but I think Bob knows about every trick in the business. You could accuse Bob for a lot of things; but not for being a "money grabbing artist". In fact Bob Dylan is one of the only artists which we all can afford to go see live in concert

When it comes to "George Jackson" - I do have the 7" single. Very nice tune; but it seems like a "learning"-piece to "Hurricane", in retrospect. Which is probably why it has been somwwhat forgotten.

I found this -- very vague and $300 for 40 disks sounds unbelievable:
