I don’t know anything about the invites or who was playing with who. I was just asked to do the gig and I
accepted. I didn’t even really know who was coming. There were a lot of people who were asked. I was
expecting to be playing with James Cotton, which I was really looking forward to, but he wasn’t [available].

And we didn’t really know that B.B. was going to come — that was a bit last minute. But I think there were a
lot of very interesting people [on the bill].

(my first night away at university, 1968, and i saw the james cotton blues band
live in my dorm cafeteria. it was free, and only a few hundred of us showed up.
they played hard and loud and nasty, my first lesson in live blues up close
and personal. i'm one of those who liked "commit a crime" best, because it was
the nastiest tune of the night. not just talking about the lyrics. the attitude
of mick and jeff.)

Jagger remains an amazing, mesmerizing, performer.

Keith has got his work cut out for him. Comparing Micks recent live performances to Keith's makes me wonder why, other than money, Mick would want to play with Keith anymore.

The only type of Stone Keith is these days is a millstone around Mick's neck.

Oh, how I would love to be proven wrong.

You will, be proven wrong that is.smoking smiley

YEAH ....James Cotton belting the reeds with Mick woulda been cool ....ESP if they'd covered
James' brutal Cotton Crop Blues or his thumpin' Hold Me In Your Arms ...from his Sun days...

it's a pity not to know if Keith was invited or not.
If he was invited and could not come, he would have let people know.
I can't believe he refused to come and play with great musicians like BB King and Buddy Guy to whom he has lots of respect as he and Mick always showed

If he was not invited, then, I could understand that he might feel offended.

Mick is a total gutsy pro to do a gig like this, and he rose to the occasion. However, remember McCartney's East Room performance for the Gershwin Prize in 2010 in front of Obama? That was a performance without a hint of nervousness and performed with a supreme self confidence. That guy seems so comfortable in all situations simply because of the talent that he can summon at will. Mick also has loads of talent, but it is not the same type of talent. Still, this was a great gig for him and he went up a notch or two on my Respectometer.

Yeah! I think there’s some of the Stones’ legacy in that album. Maybe that’s why I like it.

That is one of those times when one should see Jagger's face when saying it. I am sure there is a huge grin there....

I still can't get over just how great Mick sounded. No nasal. Not there. There were moments where he was sort of kinda going there with his voice, then he pulled it back. He was up there, singing on that small stage, tiny room and it was as if he realized "hey, I don't need to bring my voice to that range. They can hear me." It almost makes me think that he does the nasal purposely just to be heard...to try to cut through the music on stage with the Stones. Maybe he has trouble hearing on stage or somehow he thinks his vocals need an extra boost...it's obvious that the nasal was just a method he was using all this time. This performance proves that "normal Mick" is still there and when he actually wants to sing and sing with care...the nasal takes a backseat.

Maybe it's just an unfortunate expression but to me she looks like she's thinking...."What the f uck are you lowlifes doing in my house and when are you going to f uck off ?

exactly, point on!

or even......................

Maybe it's just an unfortunate expression but to me she looks like she's thinking...."What the f uck is this whiteboy doing in my house and when is he going to f uck off ?
You are a complete idiot. Your figured all that out with a facial expression? Give me an effing break. Michelle Obama is probably the greatest first lady we have ever had. Could you possibly be any more racisct if you tried?

It is kind of an odd expression but as someone else said, the video can take a funny picture. Everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt once in their life so I'll give her it on this. What I do find more interesting in this picture is the expression on everyone else's face. Pure enjoyment! I wouldn't be surprised if the Whitehouse has a few new Jagger fanatics after that show. Mick was awesome. He sounded great and I loved his choice of clothing...his jacket is killer!

As I said earlier in the thread as a response to Sweetbutnotthesharpesttoolintheboxlife's critical post above, my post was a joke)
Maybe with a couple more edits, you can finally be funny.

Mick's crooked nose?? Now I've heard everything! And if it were MORE crooked ( which implies it was crooked BEFORE!?) that would affect his voice!? OMG! I do think someone earlier was on to something when they said that in order for Mick to project in larger stadiums, he alters his tone somewhat, thus the more nasal sounding voice but the NOSE more CROOKED!? Yikes!
