Mick was great, but he was indeed taking breaths very often.

His range is narrowing, but hey - it swings! thumbs up

I'm sure his range will be back when he can work out on huge open-air stages ....with fresh air.
perhaps the small White House room was smelling of strong sanitzer which took his breath away. ha! ....+ the nerves.
even a dope-smoked and whiskey-perfumend club wouldn't leave the Mickster short of breath and loosen up.

so I guess only this uptight situation was rattling the nerves.
notice how Mick spoke the most posh-est english, ever?

Mick's cool, and how refreshing to see him accompanied by a guitar player who does not get lost after a couple of notes...

Jagger remains an amazing, mesmerizing, performer.

Keith has got his work cut out for him. Comparing Micks recent live performances to Keith's makes me wonder why, other than money, Mick would want to play with Keith anymore.

The only type of Stone Keith is these days is a millstone around Mick's neck.

Oh, how I would love to be proven wrong.

Jeff Beck dress up?

Heh, this is the way he always dresses for shows, and I like it.

That's a fantastic pic of Mick 'n Jeff - thanks. Jeff is just happy. I doubt if he touches drugs anymore, he's an exercise buff.

Mick sounded and looked great, in my opinion. Yes, he was out of breath after the first song, but he took his breath under control by the end of the speech. I even thought that shortness of breath is some kind of act
Anyway the other two songs were quite good
I like this version of Miss You, btw

He could have sung Back to Zero to give Obama a clue about what's going on outside to WH. There's no time for playing the blues right now.

Back to zero
So you wanna blow us all to pieces
Go meet your maker, head hung down
And give him all your explanations
Go ahead, throw down
Back to zero, back to nothing
Straight to meltdown, back to zero
That's where we're heading

Isn't it kinda like adding water in a nuclear reactor?
You can never have too many guitarists.

very odd situation for a man to keep a hat on, unless there's some reason other than a "look"

GRAVITY, you are way off base, in my humble opinion. Of all the presidents of late, Obama is the least likely to be thought of as a " cold fish". ( Well, Clinton was cool too, playing his sax on TV!). Obama has hosted an array of very hip, modern talent at the White House, and I am quite sure that Mick thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sure, he got nervous but by the end of the show, you could tell he was totally pumped up and still jazzed! What other president has ever sung Al Green on national TV?
I am really tired of people trying to be a buzz kill but you know, this time the high is way too good to kill! I bet Mick is still flying high today!!

99.99% Sure that it's a portrait of Martha Washington, George Washington's wife. It's his portriat on the other side of the stage.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Can't yah see what a big statement this event even taking place was!?

The world ain't perfect, politicians, make that humans, even less so, but the night was not about that, it was about the president of the USA holding a celebratory concert for the blues in the The White House.

Lets take that in again... A music which began in the hearts and souls of the black slaves was respected and celebrated in the White House by the first black president of the USA with a cross section of musicians of varying race and backgrounds who owe so much to the blues and in turn used that inspiration to move things forward ever more.

A king once said, "I have A dream!"... Nice to see it coming true, if only partially.

apparently it's Martha Washington, to match the painting of George on the other wall: [en.wikipedia.org]
i kept thinking Mick was going to turn around and address some of his lines to her -
"you're a hip-shakin mama i know" for example - he was having trouble finding someone suitable in the audience to direct that at :E
