Great Gosh A'mighty that was not Keith's scene.
This was for Mick alone...definitely his cup of social tea.

London - Mick was on at 1 a.m. here and I didn't wake up in time. Oh well, back to bed. Good night, folks.

Agree with you, Bam. "Miss You" - a strange choice for this event. Seems to be a "safe" choice for Mick. He can probably do it in his sleep. Personally, I have had it with that song. And it's disco or funk, certainly not a blues.

Yes, he did that (Miss you) at the 2001 twin towers fund raiser too..........I thought it was strange there too....actually, more than a bit insensitive..........

I was never convinced that "Miss You" being labeled disco was accurate. Sure it was mixed to sound like disco...but the ingredients are blues. You lower the bass drum and eliminate the falsetto backing voices, bring up the guitars and you have a bluesy dance number. No matter how far along into "disco" it may seem, they bring it back to the roots by the time the harmonica comes in. The guitars are playing blues scales...the lead vocals are sharp and cutting.

Mick and company may have sold it like a "disco" or "funk" but you take away all the gimmicks and you're left with a basic song that's derived from blues/R&B.

ok, Mick was seriously out of breath after 5 minutes, the tour is off!!!!
spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Yes, Mick was great, but so out of breath after one song. That was heartbreaking to see. How the hell can he pull off a tour, or even a 2-hour concert, if one song leaves him panting for air??

Drew

Perfectly normal to be breathing heavily in the beginning of any athletic endeavor. Means absolutely nothing. I gasp for air for the first five to ten minutes of my morning walk. From five to ten minutes to one hour my breathing is perfectly normal. Mick will be just fine. He is in great shape.

Maybe you are right, Justin. I can't tell, I'm not a musician myself, just a layman. But isn't there an element of blues in almost all musical genres?

The PBS link was unavailable for me as well in Canada, but I went to the White House link provided earlier and that worked no problem. Maybe they've posted it on the website, they have loads of other videos available.

Mick's voice sounds better. Seems that he has lost a bit of the nasality. Which of course is good.

Nothing like good old daily sea salt flushings. It works. Also could have had some minor surgery since the last tour.

As usual, some of you just can't be satisfied.

And the racists are just plain ignorant and inhumane.

I do not like Michelle Obama at all here. Do not know why

She seemed a little 'detached' during MJ's performance didn't she?

Maybe it's just an unfortunate expression but to me she looks like she's thinking...."What the f uck are you lowlifes doing in my house and when are you going to f uck off ?

exactly, point on!

Original photo was so 'bad' it was censored via photobucket

or even......................

Could be she's she's thinking....(for the hysterics amongst us)............."Tiny todger ? that boy needs glasses.....If it wasn't for this hick Mick....I'd be there in a minute"..........

brilliant guitarists, especially jeff, who hardly ever went overboard BUT

as unbrilliant as keith and ronnie can be

Shine a Light was just so much more exciting

something about the stones and the way the whole is greater than the sum of its parts

tonite the whole was no more than equal and maybe even less than that sum

still wonderful but the stones, even in 2006: just flat out better. hotter.
heavier. and more fun.

even buddy is better with the stones. lets go keith!

this event was a celebration of the blues. just because Mick was involved doesn't make it a Blues At The White House vs. Shine A Light competition. why the hell are you even comparing the two? geez...

You are a complete idiot. Your figured all that out with a facial expression? Give me an effing break. Michelle Obama is probably the greatest first lady we have ever had. Could you possibly be any more racisct if you tried?
