The Blues

Sunday afternoon sitting outside and the highlight of the playlist so far today has been "Back of my Hand"

That got everyone up and dancing, slowly of course, but what a great groove

Chuck- if you're reading along, how about dropping this one in the Set in place of Ride em on down

Makes me wonder how many original blues songs have the buys written and what are the best.

Mick, if you're reading along, why not drop this in the middle of Rambler in Jax if you're still adding blues songs to that jam...

I agree 100% that "Back of My Hand" needs to make the setlist more often.

what a tune!

Saw them play it in DC around 2005...it's one of my All Time Stones Highlights.

but, don't replace "Ride 'em on Down"...too "new" and too good (esp. if you saw it w/ Gary Clark Jr. in Boston...so good!!)!!

...get rid of IORR or TD and do a 3rd "Acoustic Sit-Down" song (ie. Back of My Hand)

I sure wouldn't mind "No Expectations" or "Prodigal Son" either...though, can Keef still pull off "Prodigal Son" live?

Dunno.

It's one of those later "Stones Blues", rather predictable and uninspired.

Back Of My Hand is an AWESOME blues tune. Couldn't understand why it didn't get more attention...lyrics are a bit slight, but musically it's aces. Would love to hear it more often.

Yes and that's how it came across during the ABB tour - saw it at one of the Hollywood Bowl shows (and maybe others), and it sounded a bit contrived.
Might have worked better on the B-stage (which the H. Bowl didn't have), so might be a good time to revisit it at the B-stage on the current tour with a pure acoustic version.
That said, at least it is an original unlike all the covers on Blue and Lonesome, but still falls short imo...Micks vocals are a bit nasally and exaggerated to the point of mockery.
