Has there ever been a Stones book equivalent to the fantastic Mark Lewisohn book on the Beatles recording sessions?

Complete Works from N.Zentgraf

Can someone please post some kind of email address to Nico here, that is NOT a link to his site. For some weird reason, about a year ago, my computer will not go to Nico's site anymore. It just times out. Different browsers; coming from different places - it never works anymore. I wonder if I write Nico and he may know a solution.

GravityBoy , I just had a look at the invoice .It costed me 35 euros for a new one at Community Books .
149 £ ? Could it be because the book is not available anymore ?

It's still a lot of money. I read some reviews that were less than enthusiastic as well. "Hard to read".

The first edition circa 1990 wasn't very good. The second edition was much better.

Hard to read because there is a lot to read.It has more than 500 pages.
I didn't read it like I would read another book about the Stones.
I picked up some songs I wanted to get precise informations about .I didn't follow the alphabetical order.

Yes, there is: Martin Elliott: The Rolling Stones. Complete Recording Sessions 1962-2002, London (Cherry Red Books Ltd.) 2002.

No and there probably never will be due to the many different studios etc the stones used. The information needed for such a book is just too spread about, probably much of it lost or destroyed and many of the studio staff involved are dead.

Lewisohns Beatles book is great, but there are some errors. Martin Elliott's book is no match for it becausentheybsrenloadednwith errors etc, Nico's site is probably the best we have at the moment.

We have heard that a couple of times now. Are you accessing the site from a computer behind a router? Can you try to access the site without going over the router, i. e. directly connect your computer to the line you use? If that helps, can you please let us know the exact router and the exact firmware that that router uses? It seems to be that some Linksys Routers with a certain firmware version have problems with the site. No idea where that comes from, though.

This has to do with Windows Vista or 7 or the antivirus program you use, because the site uses a mailto-link and that wants to open your mail program. Windows Vista and 7 and some malprograms start to complain about a program being opened by a website.

I would recommend Karnbach & Bernson book : It's Only Rock 'n' Roll - The ultimate guide to the Rolling Stones, though a bit outdated today.

Try it with Firefox instead of Safari.

Yeah I was considering that one.

I have Bill's book "Rolling with the Stones" coming up in a few weeks as a birthday present, any session info in that?

I love all that studio stuff.

Would be interesting to analyze session start and finish dates, album release date, tour announcement dates, rehearsal date range and then see where the window is in relation to where we are now- hopefully were still in time in coattail to what they did in tours since 81 or 89 may be more appropriate as that's post WW1- now that were in WW2, who knows what's up, probably not even them.

Hopefully the activity this month helps bring them back together.

There is some info, it's a great essential book to have anyway, but really there isn't any books about stones sessions as detailed as Lewisohns Beatles book or the mammoth and extremely detailed Recording The Beatles book.

Unfortunatley Rolling Stones recording session info is thinly spread about online, in magazines, books, interviews, some stray tapes and... lots and lots of guess work and personal opinion.

I would welcome specific help / comments to elliottm2 at virginmedia dot com or of course to this thread. My second book was light years ahead of the first and I hope to make a third one even better still. Thanks for the interest shown.

Martin.
