Dave Bartholomew, New Orleans composer who helped create rock ‘n’ roll, dies at 100

Dave Bartholomew, a trumpeter, composer and bandleader whose uncanny ability to spot and nurture promising performers, most notably Fats Domino, helped stamp New Orleans’ imprint on the developing genre of rock ‘n’ roll, died Sunday morning (June 23) at East Jefferson General Hospital, according to his son Ron. Mr. Bartholomew was 100.

Well done to you Dave Bartholomew. smileys with beer
Anyone who can get to the age of 100 has done very, very well in their life.

My dear old Ma Fowler is now 93 and her health is not that great at times but she's had a good life and hopefully her family will all appreciate that.

I wish my Mum as long a life as Dave has had. thumbs up

Here's the NPR obit:

There was an excellent tribute set to Dave and Fats' music on the Acura Stage at NOLA Jazzfest on the Sunday of the first weekend with contributions from Irma Thomas, Bonnie Raitt and others.

Here's to a magnificent life.
