Ringo Reveals All Starr Band Lineup, Tour
Bryan Wawzenek

In support of his new album, Ringo 2012, Ringo Starr has put together a new incarnation of his All Starr Band for a summer tour. The former Beatle unveiled the group’s lineup, along with June and July tour dates, according to Rolling Stone.

This version of the All Starr Band will include Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie (Santana), Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), saxophonist Mark Rivera and drummer Gregg Bissonette, along with Ringo, of course. Can one band handle two guys who spell Gregg with two Gs? Only time will tell.

As with previous treks, the ensemble will play a number of Beatles and Ringo hits, along with a couple songs made famous by each All Starr member. So, Ringo fans, expect to hear “I Wanna Be Your Man” and “Photograph” alongside “Broken Wings,” “Oye Como Va,” “Bang on the Drum All Day” and “Rosanna.”

Wow,that's a really weak band. Rather see Rundgren on his own and Gregg Rollie's own band is pretty good.

Wonder why he's never used Badfinger's Joey Molland. Seems like a no brainer.

Ringo really should be able to do better than that. Almost any musician in the world would gladly tour with Ringo ..and the best he can come up with is the guys Toto & Mr. Mister?

Yes, how stunning. It's almost as if Ringo has NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE.

I'm not sure exactly how Ringo chooses his band members. I don't think he calls anyone up and asks them to be in his band. I think the musicians contact Ringo's "people" and ask to be considered for the gig. Ringo may not even meet some of these people until the first rehearsal. I'm serious. I think that's how it works!

He comes to the Fallsview about a week in advance. Not to far from where I live. He has his rehersals there. Local news has covered the rehersals before.

It is just my humble opinion, that Ringo should be able to put toghether better tours. I almost went years ago to Jone Beach in NY when Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Clarence Clemons & Joe Wash (as I recall) were playing. I think I would have more respect if it were either up and comers ....or jazz and blues players. But to see a bunch of D list rockers is not something I am too interested in. Again, I think Ringo (or his mgmt) could put something a little more exciting together.

I went to a couple of the early All Star tours, and they were entertaining, but not only for the Beatles and Ringo tunes, but the other band members tunes as well. I just don't see any of these guys, besides Rundgren, being very entertaining. Seems like he's selling himself short with this lineup.
