OT - Roky Erickson RIP

Sadly, Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators) has passed.

He wrote and sang some great tunes in the Elevators and as a solo. My favorites were "Starry Eyes" as a solo and the one big hit with the Elevators ("You're Gonna Miss Me"). He was also the subject of a documentary about his long personal struggles. One of the pioneers of psychedelic rock.

Roky had many struggles in his life. I suppose much of this was due to the
harsh drug laws of the time. Not sure how often he was touring - but I feel fortunate to have caught his concert a couple years ago. RIP Roky.

I saw him a couple of years ago and he did the whole show sitting down, but he still had it. Glad I got to see him when I did--RIP.

He and the Elevators made some cool music. Texas - hell, the world - wasn't ready for them back in the day. Rock on in peace.
