The Kinks were more a mods-band like later The Jam so they covered Little Richard instead of as the Stones did Chuck Berry....

The computer says No....

The Kinks covered the Stones when they did Catch Me Now I'm Falling and they covered The Who when they did The Hardway.

Another connection - Mick Avory played drums with the soon-to-be Rollin' Stones in 1962....

I wonder what The Rolling Stones would have been with Ray Davies as singer/songwriter together with Keith...I mean he had done some songs....

Come now come on. You didn't get it? Catch Me Now I'm Falling is Jumping Jack Flash, so The Kinks covered The Stones. And Hardway sounds like can't Explain... they paid homage to their fellow invaders.

Alls forgiven. The Kinks are true unsung heros of the sixties. They are beyond underrated.

They played some of the same Berry-songs that the Stones covered.

The Kinks played rock 4 years before The Stones did. In fact some say they invented it with You Really Got Me.

The computer is missing the fact that early Kinks covered several Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and Slim Harpo numbers, too.

I consider Between the Buttons an album influenced by Kinks. "Something happened to me yesterday" could be taken as an example. As a Kinks album it is marvellous, as a Stones album mediocre.

I find them too 'humpty-dumpty-snotty-england-working-class'-like for my taste. They made some good stuff, but I can do with a good compilation of their work.

I prefer The Beatles, The Stones & The Who over The Kinks anyday.

They're quite fond of the Stones as well. Listen to the shameless JJF-rip off here from 0:49 thumbs up

"Connecton" is a rip-off of the Kinks' "Party Line" from Face To Face.

Ray once said, that up to a certain point, they all were
English boys with the same love of American music. But
then the Stones were driving away on Route 66 while the
Kinks took the M1 up north.

Both bands covered Beautiful Delilah, however, the Stones version for the BBC remains unreleased.

David Watts and Let's Spend The Night Together have similarities.
