Great article, child-of-the-moon!

It's easy to forget how much interesting information there is to be read in all (or rather, some of) those articles that were written right back when the news was fresh.

Tons of interesting tidbits in there ... it's actually a bit moving to hear Jagger speak so positively about Mick Taylor, also defending Taylor's decent manners as a response to the media's talk about "not being a real Rolling Stone". Funny how he mentions John Lennon and Keith Moon as bad and annoying examples when he surely must have had his own Keith in the back of his head as well.

Perhaps this is where the rumours about Clapton and Jeff Beck being candidates for Taylor's position come from. And he just mention them as being friends in that circumstance.

Also interesting how he views the talk about Taylor not getting enough credit. He does admit that Taylor contributed a chord or two to Time Waits For No One, which some people easily would see as qualification for a writing credit.

Lastly, I think Nick Kent had a pretty good and accurate view of Taylor's role in the band, which is nice to see.

Taylor's contribution to Time Waits For No One definitely deserves some writing credit in my opinion .The Melodie he plays on the second part of the song is more than an improvisation: it's a stand-alone melody. Anyway, to state that Taylor contributed "a chord or two to Time Waits For No One" hugely diminishes Taylor's contribution to that song.

'A chord or two' might come in handy when you're adding your solo

The guitar solo on TWFN was the basis of the sax solo in "Waiting on a Friend," which was initially recorded for GHS in late 1972.

I do believe that Sonny Rollins could handle it himself. Only similarity is the two chords that both Taylor and Rollins used to play their solos on, on the two songs you mention.

Hear a Mick Jagger Interview from This Day in 1974

Mick Jagger does not mince his words in this interview recorded on this day (Nov. 13) in 1974. That year, The Rolling Stones released their 14th studio album It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, and Jagger discusses songs like “Time Waits for No One” and “Till the Next Goodbye.” At one point, the interviewer questions the lyrics to the latter song and whether it will inspire “mass murders in California,” presumably referring to Charles Manson and his connection to The Beatles’ music.

“Some nutcase might get hold of the word ‘the’ and go berserk and kill people,” the interviewer says. “To me, this is a dangerous track.”
Jagger replies forcefully, “I think that’s a stupid interpretation!”

Not the driver you silly! This is a French car so it's probably a minder.

And he put Gomina in his hair... (think " Brylcreem" for you British people).
Very popular among "real" men at that time it made them look more thuggish (Chirac was a big fan).
Thankfully Mick wasn't...Keef did show a "natural grease" look in the 70's but that's another story.
