Awesome!!! Thank you so much!

I'm Dutch myself and it's funny to read that the author thinks this album is one of their best work the past 5 years! hahaha

Neues Leben (GDR youth magazine), October 1974

They're rolling downhill: The Rolling Stones

It´s from the GDR, so the article has a socialist point of view
about that "capitalist rock music system" and the Stones as part
of it "milking the fans." Funnily enough they are quoting some
West German newspapers.

A great find anyway!

Technically 1973 but these are some rare photos!! Earliest sessions for IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N ROLL in November 1973 without Mick Taylor. Looks like the boys are accepting their Gold records for GOATS HEAD SOUP!! Would someone be able to translate the article?

I can tell you it is interesting to see the Germans evidently have a word for taking a cigarette break: Zigarettenpause.

-Hadn`t Mick and Keith been like-minded, this band never would have excisted.

Cool post, child-of-the-moon! Thank you so much. Unfortunately I can't read the article. The letters are too small to read. sad smiley

It’s funny when Mick says Jack Bruce bands don’t last too long.Didn’t the Bruce/Taylor/Bley band last until June 1975? I read a quote Wyman purportedly made that Taylor asked the Stones about rejoining during the summer of 1975 but was shot down by the band because they liked things were going with Wood

The Germans probably have 10 such words, depending on your mood while taking the break -- wistful, melancholy, regretting something in one's youth, regretting having taken such a poor lover, regretting the sausages one ate for breakfast, etc.

"Personal problems"?
I didn't know that that kind of periphrasis (meaning "he couldn't handle his drug intake") was already in use in 1974... winking smiley

Thanks for the article.Very interesting since I wasn’t old enough in 1975 to hear this stuff.Never knew Taylor was a full member. That means just from a financial standpoint what a dumb move it was leaving the band. Artistically too, since who could stayed in the Stones but still have done solo or side projects like with Bruce. Also didn’t know he played the Leslie guitar on If You Really Want To Be My Friend. Also would have thought Keith not Jagger, would want the solo in Time Waits For No One cut down, although Keith’s guitar playingduring the solo is also great. And since Taylor isn’t on the backing tracks for IORR, maybe that’s why the songs sound a little thin

hahahaha that's cheating a little bit, exilestones. Ronnie was with the Faces during 1974. Not an official Stone.
And you're posting Faces photos. Cool band, but in this thread. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
