Stones lyrics that have authentically reflected your life

For me, life has worked out this way:

You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, you just might find
You get what you need.

And this..

In the silk sheet of time
I will find peace of mind
Love is a bed
....for the blues

I was born in a crossfire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving rain

But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas
But it's all right
I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas

Yep....

adtl
all of it

rt grabbed me hard when i was 21 in 72. maybe 20 when it first was available, I had been waiting for it actually, sorta like we do now, in some ways...

still like adtl and listen to the studio version a lot.

a lot of em probs.
they don't end up being your fave without hitting some 'pressure' points,
or however you want to describe that sense of companionship you get from
a good book or record album, without relating strongly to the character's
situation or expression of same. in that sense many times M&K have come
up with stuff that pretty much inspired me; and also sorta validated some
of the frustrations, as good blues will do.
for example adtl is pretty simple stuff, no one would say it's byronesque or anyting, or the power of a master poet....but for me, it still speaks to me and for me in a lot of lines. (as does flash of course....the bigogaphic nature of that is both general enough, and dramatic enough to have pretty much captured me and still does....
i dunno...a lot of Stones songs seem to reflect or mirror somewhat, the passing joys and struggles with relationships and all kinds of other stuff....
....and to some extent when preadolescent or on the verge, what i considered the best of their originals at the time, like RT lyrically for exampls (also musically) did keep me company and make me feel, or help me to feel, that there was understanding and passion and 'hipness' beyond what the students, teachers and tv stars were talking about.
bla bla; we know they are special and with so many great songs,
(amidst so many not so great as the decades piled on imo, but i love em...)
and i'm glad to see Mick looking so vibrant in new york.
getting around and stuff. he's a tough smart cookie but i still feel a little protective of him in a weird way; i mean, he has a lot of help...but we love em anyway

Too many to note in this space or discuss in this place...

Yep, the Casino Boogie. Just chop it up, toss it into the air, and see how the chips may fall.

I was thinking about this recently, lyrics (not necessarily Stones) that you can relate to. No Surrender off Born In The USA. The opening verse: Well we bursted out of class, had to get away from those fools. We learned more from a three minute record baby than we ever learned in school.

'I'm gonna walk before they make me run.'

Sobriety anthem.

The line "the sunshine bores the daylights out of me" always resonated because I'm a night owl, although less so as I've gotten older and my work schedule demands sticking to an 8AM arrival time.

Jumpin' Jack Flash as well.

To me it is lifestyle.

Lyrics, well....

Lifestyle of Keith and to a certain degree Mick (60'ie) is what matters.
Rebellion and no authority is the best to me - Stones defined that lifestyle.

I'd see it as a post-Toronto "user's manual" with the police. Walk away as soon as you see a cop before you have to run from them...

It was a soundtrack for my sobriety journey. At the time, I thought Keith was serious about overcoming addiction (and not just heroin.) ... Still, we make songs our own.

Too many. My top two are 'I see the girls walk by, dressed in their summer clothes, I have to turn my head....' And 'Chasing shadows, moonlight mysteries....'

"I was born in a crossfire hurricane."

Can't get any more biographical than that.

"I was making love last night
To a dancer friend of mine
I can't seem to stay in step
Come every time that she pirouettes over me"

This literally happens to me all the time.

I live in France during the warm months and much of Exile resonates with me.

"I'm the man who walks the hillside
In the sweet summer sun.."

But it's probably because I have seen so many photos of that time at Nellcote and read so much about it. The whole sound of the album is much like France - bathed in sunlight, old, decaying, decadent, but full of life and joy.

"Well his coat is torn and frayed
It's seen much better days
Just as long as the guitar plays
Let it steal your heart away
Let it steal your heart away.."

IMHO one of the best posts on any Stones sites...ever.

Gotten me into trouble, but also pulled me through...

There's no time to lose, I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind
Ain't life unkind?
