The guitars are more prominent by far in the mix of '78.
Agree 100%, and my favorite as well off the SG Deluxe. This one has so many classic Stones elements ... a deliciously bluesy, devil-may-care attitude, gloriously raunchy guitars and harp, sparkling drumming from Charlie, and a fabulous, preening performance by Mr Jagger (vastly improved from the original "Some People Tell Me" vocals). I love how he challenges the band to keep up with him, and they get their asses in gear and do just that.
The best part of all is how he pronounces "butt". A normal singer would have lacked the imagination and sense of humor to come up with the inflection he uses here, but Mick transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary with just this little twist. He does the same later with "that'll be me". This is what sets the Stones apart from everybody else.

I agree. I never knew the name of the track, but it was always one of my favorites: and you're right, that growl was sexy, dangerous, nasty....it was raunchy.

The 2011 version of "Some People Tell Me". In my opinion the best track of the Deluxe Some Girls, although the original version with the guitar duett by RW and KR is essentially better. The only thing that is a little too excessive in the '78 version is the barking, growling and shouting MJ.

The original is miles and miles better. The duelling by Richards and Wood is fantastic, and Jagger's growling voice is one of his best blues vocals ever. Shame they really butchered the original version.

I think that Italian suit is cinched in the waist, not stitched - and I'm not sure about "carved" either, though I can't make out what the word actually is.
I agree that the guitars sound better on the original bootleg track, but I do enjoy the new lyrics, and Mick's cynical way of singing them, with all those little asides: yes it is, that's right, in a movie, that'll be me...

Hard to believe it's not Jagger on that very "Stop Breaking Down" sounding guitar. The Stones in very good blues form, I like it.

Not unless Bill came back in the group. They had to have used elements from the past. I don't think Charlie has had anything to do with these 'brushups' of old tracks.

I just listened to the outake that Greenlady posted and the gutars are great but Mick is not listenable. I like the rversion on SG the guitars are dirty especially in the beginning

Yes the rough and dirty intro guitar is superb, and Jagger's singing is better. This is 100% Rolling Stones music at their best. I mean, i like it, i like it too much, and is the kind of songs that i have been waiting for since 19........
