Wow, that rehearsal clip is amazing.

That's the blues. That's Keith today. If someone thinks this shows Keith's degradation or inability to still play or something like that, they don't get it. I'm not saying he is the same guitarist he was thirty, or even twenty years ago. I'm saying that you can't draw that conclusion from this clip. What he played was perfectly calibrated to the music he was playing, which is the ultimate sign of a true musician.

that is tasteful blues playing. That's the essence of the blues, right there, and Keith has it nailed.

He sure looks aged though...

Fantastic clip.

One Love. Go Keef Go!!!

True "People Who Get It" club members would never admit to such a thing.

What do you think?! I wish that left hand of his spent more time on the fret board! Also, where was the bloody pick!?
It was like watching a slow train roll by! Hey guys, like me personaly or not, but it's time we take off our rose tinted glasses off! Mick and Keith are dead! They need to start rolling down to a stop! Keep the vaults open!

I was unaware there was another thread about Keith's performance! My bad!

Here we have Keiths performance being questioned once again !!!

Mick and Keith certainly aren't "dead". It's nice to see Keith performing on stage, he does have the feel, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the "riffmaster is back", as one person put it.

These guys started out emulating the old black bluesman of Chicago, and the way I see it, that's how they are ending.

Definitely not club material. Let 'em start their own club.

Yep - I'd kind of be surprised to see a major high octane tour at this point, even though the Stones have been know to surprise us before. They may do something but there's no denying the effects of age, especially on Keith. If they do tour, I don't think we can expect Keith to do the heavy lifting even though I'd love to see him perform in the basic blues style shown in the rehearsal clip. Time will tell.

I can't see a big tour either, but I can see a couple or few big shows. With big crowds, big lights, and big video screens to distract from close examination of their playing.

Hope for a nice bluray or cd set as the audience (Edirol and CA 14 are good gears) is not the best heard

Here is a link for some rehearsal pictures from "Where's Eric" a Clapton website.

Tough looking at the one picture of Keith, EC and Derek Trucks and seeing Keith's knarled fingers on Clapton's shoulder.

This interview with Warren Haynes really needs to be in both threads, this and the Mick at the White House one:

Do you have a Keith Richards story from that Hubert Sumlin night?

Eric Clapton was working up the Howlin’ Wolf version of “Goin’ Down Slow.” The Wolf version has a recitation in the beginning and in the middle that was done by Willie Dixon, who wrote “Goin’ Down Slow.” Eric didn’t want to do the recitation and he wanted someone else to do it. Originally he had asked Willie Weeks to do it and they were kind of just joking around but I could tell Willie didn’t want to do it. Now Keith Richards was sitting by the piano just watching the whole rehearsal, he wasn’t playing at that particular moment. And you could see it leading up to, “Why doesn’t Keith do the spoken recitation?” So I saw it coming and then Eric said, “Keith, you do it,” and Keith’s like, “I don’t know it.” And he said, “It’s right there on the teleprompter.” So Keith got up and did the recitation in rehearsal and then it carried over to the show, which was absolutely perfect. It was exactly what needed to happen.

Much better than the LIVE-Performance. Blues with soul.

So much better than the actual performance.
I haven't been a big fan of Keith's guitar playing of late. I like him like this, sitting down, no pick - he was directing the song; that extra bar before the V chord. I don't know; really liked this.

Much better than the live performance. Anyway, very simple slide licks, many times out of tune. Otherwise, i have enjoyed it a lot. KR's voice could be a nice one if properly used (i mean , baby baby, ooohhhh, etc..........ruin his vocal skills)

Wow, that´s a great clip and a great performance.
One of the very few clips where you can see him
play slide so intensely.

First time ever I saw him play slide was on You Got The Silver
in Stuttgart in 1999. Tears in my eyes...
