"I apologize if this question has already been done, but someone who was at the concert at the Apollo saw if they resumed with cameras for an eventual official dvd?"

No official DVD, no recording.

It was asked and answered already in this thread. The answer is NO. Blame the lawyers!

COOL!

Three quick questions...

1. Was that Pitbull playing harp?
2. Who was that guy in the fedora and green scarf?
3. What have they done with Keith?

1) That was Kim Wilson

I think facebook content is only "public" to other facebook users. Which obviously quite a few of us are not. Thanks anyway, Peter.

I finally finished writing an article for thebluesalone.nl which should be published there soon.

I was at the Apollo and it was an amazing evening. Wouldn't have wanted to miss it for the world.. saw some old friend, saw A LOT of amazing blues.

What I said about Keith right after the gig, and I will say it again, his guitar playing is nothing less than fragile. I loved his performance nontheless. He looked very relaxed, he behaved like his old self, his voice was great, however if it comes to the guitar, I imHo he has to come a long way before he can do a 2h Rock and Roll show.

great pictures peter! you could post them here if you used photobucket and copied the IMG tags...i would've taken pics the whole way through but since they said no photography, i didn't get the guts until the very end (security was pretty much gone long before tho)

Keith exasperates me with his posing and pontificating and p*ssing on Jagger. And then he turns on the charm like in that video clip and I can't help but smile.

He really has a way with words at a memorial event to honor a dead man.

SO cool.

Can't wait for Keith's next book.

Mean?

Superrevy, I think you really ought to get round to the full hour of Blues at the White House. It might clear your mind.

Thanks carlitos.

The video also might be (among other priority things) a subtle, indirect way of saying to Mick..."you see Sir? I really care of fans...I dissiminate a video message....not like other people hangind out with presidents..." grinning smiley

all right stonesrule, what is it that Keith said at the Sumlin tribute gig that's got up your nose?
and which video clip do you hear him say it in? i missed that one.

(since you're so sensitive about words, i'm sure that when you say "at a memorial event"
you mean at the tribute show and not something he said on a plane several days later)

I'm not a doctor so please don't take this a defnitive diagnosis but based on my own experience and the way Keith kept moving his arm back from the guitar neck in Little red rooster it looks (to me at least) like he's got a bad case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome....... [en.wikipedia.org] ...

He pulls his arm away from the neck to let the note resonate.
Using an open tuning, when the guitarist's left hand doesn't touch the neck, the notes ring longer and it lets the instrument produce overtones.

O.K. fair enough, someone else said it was deliberate regarding style, whichever or both let's hope so because as I said CTS is a MF even when mild. It feels like a dead but simultaneously aching arm which 'you' feel you need to stretch - hence the contsant moving around (with me at least).........

Actually, I misspoke, and for that I apologize. In the morass of posts in this thread, it was what Keith said in the VIDEO, not at the event, about "people who give a shit." I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT KEITH WAS THANKING PEOPLE WHO GIVE A SHIT"...ABOUT HUBERT SUMLIN.

Idolatry, to me, is often frightening. One puts up with -- or even revels in -- "stuff" from a movie star or a rock star that they would not put up with in real life from a non-famous friend.

I recall saying many a silent prayer for two rock stars whose lives were a complete mess. They were dangerous to themselves and others. I did not think they could survive. I was wrong.

One of them was Keith. Undoubtedly one of the luckiest men who ever lived.
The other, who shall go nameless and is not a Rolling Stone, also survived and is still a great performer but now he is happy, grateful and humble. "I will always be ashamed of how I lived my life in those drugged-out years," he once said. He has not chosen to write a book. He, too, admired Hubert Sumlin and was helpful to him in his lifetime.
