There are some great pics, here. Thanks.

And Keith' singing was fine, as was his look.

Remember, though, if you don't see him playing a note, he may not have been playing it. There were three guitar players at the back of the stage, including Kooch, playing the rhythm and occasional little fills.

it's such a relief to know he can still sing, isn't it?

two more positive reviews of keith's performance, from cbs news and
ultimate classic rock:

"Rolling Stone Keith Richards traded licks with Eric Clapton on Wolf's hit
"Spoonful," and played piercing, 12-string slide guitar beside blues harp
pioneer James Cotton on "Little Red Rooster"."

"Richards hasn’t had a major musical appearance since the last Rolling Stones’ tour
five years ago, but those at the Sumlin concert reported the time off didn’t seem
to have affected the 68-year-old’s guitar prowess
."

Awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing - lucky Little Queenie!

And thanks for the kind words guys.

YES - I like Keith's hair - I think he looks really good. Who knows, maybe he's even cut down on the sauce & cigs!

Cheers smoking smiley

>> how many times have you seen Keith Richards play live?

about 17 or 18 times, three times from the front row center, two of those
times in theatres, once in an arena. why do you ask?

17 or 18 times! You lucky guy!

Can you still remember the first time? When and where? How did you feel when you came out of the gig?

hey my sweet, i wrote a detailed (and critically acclaimed) bit about that on
the recent thread called "have you seen the stones in performance" or something
close to that. maybe my memory is going after all, because i couldve sworn
that was your thread...

I apologize if this question has already been done, but someone who was at the concert at the Apollo saw if they resumed with cameras for an eventual official dvd?

Thanks, paulm. It's great that we can have a difference of opinion without getting into a pissin' contest (like some on here).

BTW, if you watch the video, it's funny as hell.

I loved both gigs.
I loved both Mick's and Keith's performances.
Is it still possible on this board to like Keith without bashing Mick ?

Keith should really play with Bob Weir (Grateful Dead) ....The Dead do very good versions of a lot of these blues songs. Weir has a great voice for them as well...

COOL!

Three quick questions...

1. Was that Pitbull playing harp?
2. Who was that guy in the fedora and green scarf?
3. What have they done with Keith?

i was thinking yes - at least bob weir knows the words to smokestack lightening (i'm referring to the most embarassing moment of the show when susan tedeschi could only sing one line before forgetting the rest and walking away from the mic sheepishly)

the funniest to me was the fact that keith wasn't quite sure when EC would be done with his solos...i think he walked back on stage 2-3x in order to take his turn but had to back off each time!

You can find some of my pics on my FB album, which should be public.

I finally finished writing an article for thebluesalone.nl which should be published there soon.

I was at the Apollo and it was an amazing evening. Wouldn't have wanted to miss it for the world.. saw some old friend, saw A LOT of amazing blues.

What I said about Keith right after the gig, and I will say it again, his guitar playing is nothing less than fragile. I loved his performance nontheless. He looked very relaxed, he behaved like his old self, his voice was great, however if it comes to the guitar, I imHo he has to come a long way before he can do a 2h Rock and Roll show.

I just got a brainstorm re-watching this Sumlin gig, that might palliate some critics' concerns about Keith & guitar: What if KR just takes up the mic on the next Stones tour, doing answer-call vocals with MJ? Kinda an auction barker thing. Isn't that genius?
