Strange not to see Robbie Robertson there, Hubert was a huge influence on him, I know Levon Helm has some health problems. Anyway, what a line up.

(RTTNews) - Keith Richards will play the Apollo Theatre on February 24 for a
celebration of the life and works of bluesman Hubert Sumlin. The event has been
dubbed "Howlin' for Hubert" and will include a host of jazz, blues and rock
legends.

Others performing at the event include Doyle Bramhall II, Eric Clapton, Gary
Clark Jr., James Cotton, Shemekia Copeland, Billy Flynn, Barrelhouse Chuck
Goering, Buddy Guy, David Johansen, Steve Jordan, Danny Kortchmar, Dr. John, Keb
Mo, Todd Mohr, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Larry
Taylor, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Jimmie Vaughan, Jimmy Vivino, Willie
Weeks, Jody Williams, Kim Wilson, and other special surprise guests.

Donations will go to the Jazz Foundation of America, which, among its other
activities, attempts to save desolate jazz musicians from poverty or worse.
Sumlin himself died penniless of heart failure in 2011.

YOu really should pay attention to IORR rather than Twitter. We knew this a week ago.

A week ago we knew that Keith was going to be appearing but we didn't know if that meant he was going to perform or just speak (people do speak at memorials). Now it's confirmed that he'll be playing.

I don't hink Keith is going to play, he's most likely to utter some profound inside info like "..yeah baby, you know uuuhhh that cat ... hehehe yeahhh!".

Not too far fetched, actually. I spoke with someone associated with the event on Monday, and MJ has been asked to participate in the tribute. Seeing as he'll be on the east coast for the White House gig anyway, and along with his admiration of Hubert, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Mick shows up for a few numbers.
