It's the 2nd of 2, 3 pickup Les Paul customs he had. He supposedly traded/bought it from Paul Kossoff.

Standard wiring for custom's from late 50's.

pu sel up=Neck
pu sel mid= middle & bridge
pu sel down= bridge

In early 67 he had a 2 pickup custom with P90 and P90 alnico/staple pickups. This too was supposedly traded/bought from Kossoff.

His first 3 pickup custom was bought at Manny's in New York in May 1967 and used a lot on Disraeli Gears. He later gave it to Albert Lee.

I tried watching this half-hour show on YouTube and found it boring. I'm familiar with Delaney and Bonnie (their version of "Soulshake"), and they had good musicians in their band. This show has Clapton, George Harrison, Bobby Keys, and Jim Price. However, the songs they played aren't too memorable and neither Delaney or Bonnie are that great in the singing department. They're adequate blue-eyed soul types. What attracted Clapton and Harrison, who may have had better things to do?

I disagree: Bonnie Bramlett can wail with the best of them, and her daughter Bekka is also a good singer.

i think what attracted these soulful UK players was the authenticity,
and also the musicianship. Eric found the Dominoes and became Derek,
let's remember. They appeared on thed Johnny Cash Show.
Hippest Brit artists revered American musics and what they imagined as the culture.
This is soul music here. Personally love Bonnie's distinctive deep vibrato and Church Sunday wails. this is the real deal. and the cat that brought the Carl Perkins songs to the dam beetle catalog...Clapton and Harrison were mining.
Geore would go solo and have a huge rhythm revue type band for his most important solo album, All Things....and the live cookin' stompin' Bengla Desh Concerts at MSG.
the importance of this band is often under-rated but that's also the beauty of rock and roll; how i became McCraklkin fan in my 60's listening to his recordings from THE 60's and also 50's...
...
it's not like george or eric really lend anything essential to the affair;
some wild (drug soaked) fast flurry holding to hold on imo...
...
but how cool their moonlighting; it was purposeful.
eric played the purist in his youth w da blues...this is soul music americana before they were using that word. This is sort of 'Clarence White Territory' in a way, tho i know he's not with Delaney and Bonnie....
in that regardless the relative public notice or popularity
(it wasn't a big hit at the time, more a bleed-over LP that got a lot
of action cause dam beetles and sunshine of your love...sales-wise anyway.
but a good turn in it's way also. like the Stones digging Tina and Ike.
...tho Stevie didn't need them to fill seats...still, so great. i mean, STEVIE!! ...
interesting these supahstarz adventurinos.
you guys know; Clarence was a GIANT; but not a pop star.
tho close with The Byrds; his early death a tragedy we still feel the loss.

....
they would take the players, not just absorb the influences...
I remember Derek on the Johnny Cash show.
and also there's a vid of Perkins with all 'his children' sitting at his feet; being respectful and honoring him. he wrote blue suede shoes.
it's hard to explain what happened when that hit was detonated.
it's still happening.

peeps ain't 'wrong' for not digging it but i do.
so did The Stones, er...those horn arrangements...
this real deal southern express. no it ain't lady gaga...
and Bonnie looks total white trash like she smokes a pipe
and holds a baby in one arm and can either heal your soul or
beat the hell out of you with the other arm at the same time.
the thing is, you'd want her to.
You'd camp out on her lawn instead of criticising her if there
weren't already all those relatives camped by the dead cars.
admit it. shut off your computer and walk away clean.
this is church.
my that wig; or if it's hair even cooler...perfect.
that's natural soul. she's dressed in a loose shapeless
frock for hanging laundry on the line outside.
a little wine on her breath but maybe tripping....
oh the baby needs changing again, i keep dropping my rifle
; she's hot, face it.
crazy mama; she's a few tricks up her sleeve.
that's a confident look muthafrickerz; Gene Simmons WISHES he had her balls.
that's white bread, one slice of bologna
and a lot of mustard to make it seem like it's a meal...
This is spectular and real; wish i was there. i would
not have stopped dancing...
pass the grape soda, i'm burning with sweat dance little sister dance -------------------------

rock and roll went to the city but it was born in the country.
and if it's truly alive anywhere, and it is, that's where you're
really gonna find folks getting down regardless the charts or
cultural movements.
you hear this stuff and you know Rory Gallagher,
Brian Setzer, Throughgood to a lesser extent imo,
stevie ray doing hendrix with texas roots.
ten million of us trying to nail Johnny B. Goode just perfect im B-flat.
...one of the most majestic things in my
life was the high excitement and cheap thrll of RTJ lyrics,
like a postcard tour taken by well, exiles on main street;
the best titled album ever too;...
in true Back In The USA or Memphis (horns* see stones, bobby... ibidd)

...
p.s.
round and round and round we go hot smileysmoking smiley
smileys with beer

But did he capture the spirit of Paul Kossoff ?

When I saw Derek and the Dominos from the second row at the Santa Monica Civic, with Delaney playing second guitar, I was sitting next to Bonnie, well, now I know who the 2 year old was that was with her. Fortunately she was well behaved.

His Majesty, thanks for the info! (and, cool psychedelic photo...)

I could only locate 1 other photo of the LPC... George is holding it in another pic of the same tour.

Anyone have snapshots of it? I'd love to see more...

Les Paul Custom has a nice voice and slightly different than the rosewood board Standard which to me is a bit more mellow than the Les Paul Custom which seems a bit brighter . I heard this in the Led Zeppelin DVD box (all of 2 discs ) where in the first disc it is in 1969 concert I think at the Royal Albert Hall? where Jimmy uses his 3 pickup 1958 (I think ) Les Paul Custom for the encores and you can clearly hear a difference from his sunburst Les Paul Standard which to my ears sounds more mellow .
