Sweet Virgina (Stockholm 2003)

That already looks quite impressive, doesn't it? I left the 1969 prposals because I only want to include specific versions (but I added Paris 1970 as my own second proposal).
The Ron Wood years are quite underrepresented, aren't they?

Hmm.. it looks like t many are doing a sort of LIVE RARITIES THROUGH THE YEARS here... to my eyes some song choices are VERY hard core fan based, and give me like an impression of collecting rare stamps. But for me making a cover of, say, 35 years old odd song, probably never played before, is not probly musicwise something one should think about making an official release. But then again, there surely enough of satisfactions, jumpingjackflashes, brownsugars etc already officially released... And of course, this is all fictional, so... smileys with beer

Not sure if this refers to the first or second show, lol. I was at the first show. The intro was a nightmare. It sounded like they were playing in two different keys. They had to stop cold, and Mick said, "Woody, Woody.." Ron said, "I thought we reheased it in G!" They all cracked up, the audience had a good laugh and then they started all over and if I recall they did a pretty good job of it. It was pretty funny.

As for a compilation from the official live albums...I would skip Got Live If You Want It, start with Ya Ya's and go forward, trying to sequence it like an actual concert that progresses through the decades...
FROM YA YA'S:
JUMPING JACK FLASH
STRAY CAT BLUES
HONKY TONK WOMEN
LOVE IN VAIN
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER

FROM LOVE YOU LIVE
IF YOU CAN'T ROCK ME / GET OFF OF MY CLOUD
HOT STUFF
HAPPY
STAR STAR
AROUND AND AROUND
IT'S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL

FROM STILL LIFE
UNDER MY THUMB
LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER
TIME IS ON MY SIDE

FROM FLASHPOINT
RUBY TUESDAY
YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT
PAINT IT BLACK
SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL

FROM STRIPPED
LIKE A ROLLING STONE
DEAD FLOWERS

FROM NO SECURITY
GIMME SHELTER
LIVE WITH ME
SISTER MORPHINE
OUT OF CONTROL

FROM LIVE LICKS
MONKEY MAN
CAN'T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKING?
BEAST OF BURDEN
WHEN THE WHIP COMES DOWN
ROCK ME BABY
STREET FIGHTING MAN

FROM SHINE A LIGHT
SHATTERED
SHE WAS HOT
ALL DOWN THE LINE
JUST MY IMAGINATION
START ME UP
SATISFACTION

Nothing from Brussels Affair or Live In Texas?

Good point. I guess it hasn't sunk in to me yet that Brussells is now an "official" release. And although I've heard much of SGLIT, I keep forgetting about it being a new official release. Believe it or not, despite being a mega-fan, I still don't own it as I'm currently laid off and barely have enough funds to just pay the rent and make ends meet. Hopefully that will change soon as I'm trying hard to find a new job and have some money I can actually spend! Yes, the consideration of Brussells and SGLIT would surely cause me to make some revisions to my list! Our ecomomy here in NJ, USA is really bad and work is a bitch to find for many of us.

I'm a fan of the 81 tour in general, but LIB from those shows is just a little too ragged for me. From what i've heard.

Oh I think Let It Bleed was real excellent....but not at all concerts of course. You've probably heard the trainwreck from the otherwise great Tempe show.

Search for Let It Bleed Philadelphia 1981 on youtube to hear the first performance of the tour...a memorable moment

Holy Sh*T! Anyone criticizing late era Stones, and lackluster playing/ posing by Keith need to look at this. Keith is amazing here; hardly ever have seen him play so hard and intense. The way his lower strings sound..man oh man.
At the end of the instrumental bridge at ca 1:48 he points at the floor for Jagger to take his place again, LOL

I just wanted to agree on a point with Doxa. Several choices here stand for 'rare selection" not for a great performance. "Sweet Black Angel" or "Torn & Frayed" in Vancouver 72 were not good at all.

The Stones' greatest 3 live minutes...Bye Bye Johnny - 1972 American Tour...Fort Worth or New York City version...if a Martian flew through my window and asked me to explain Rock and Roll to his species I would light him a joint and play the Stones live '72 version of Bye Bye Johnny at maximum volume...no need to say a word...

Sorry, but what is great about that 97 D.Door version of JJF?

But I'll second the Turd!
The Stones doing Berry and esp. B.B. Johnny from 72 is like the nucleus of Rock'n Roll . . !!
