Thanks, Deltics. So, this outtake has never circulated until now? I wonder what other Chess recordings are yet to circulate or be discovered? A Chess-outtakes release would be marvellous; or even a release compiling all their recordings - released and unreleased - from those 1964-65 U.S. sessions.

Could one believe it’s the same session when they first played ‘Satisfaction’?
Nevertheless, it’s fantastic...

Wooooow!!!

Don't think this is Stu on piano by the way...sounds more like a guitarist who's playing very basic piano

Thanks for posting! When I heard it, it reminds me of their version of Your Precious Love, or I guess vice versa since this is from 65 versus 89.

Sounds like Stu to me. But who's on Hammond organ?

Maybe it's Stu on organ, and like Sacke said, that could be just about anyone on the piano.
Ever since I saw this track listed in some obscure little segment in Hot Wacks or Felix's books I have wanted to hear it.
It is certainly rare. Jagger sounds, shaky.

"Try Me" was James Brown's second R&B number 1 song. It was recorded in 1958.

For the record, here is the version by the Godfather of Soul:

Was his first million seller, and saved the band's contract.

For one thing, James Brown original version is the best.............and at best for The Rolling Stones would be 'Try Me' on an album track.

Nothing special ,in my opinion , but a great find for anyone interested in early, or discovered Stones stuff..................good or not so good. smileys with beer

nzentgraf says Stu is playing both piano and organ. This Chess session is where the first version of Satisfaction was recorded along with Have Mercy, That's How Strong My Love Is, and Under Assistant. This song would have been awesome on Out of Our Heads.

The one and only far superior version, but nice to hear the Stones give it a try.

My sentiments exactly. Up there with their take of "I've Been Loving You Too Long" and "That's How Strong My Love Is." What a treat. Thank you, Deltics!

Much interesting, but I can understand why not released during the years when were still in the process of defining themselves.

( Somewhat post-R&B, come a soul approach. In my opinion, can't compare in quality and intensity, for instance, with their cover of "Cry to Me").

Loved it when Stones.... Key To The Highway cut at Chess - made its way to boot back around 2007

A question: is this a newly-discovered track, or was it known, but uncirculated?

Listening to the stereo version it seemed to me that organ and piano at times are played at the same time, this could mean on the organ was a different guy (Jack Nitzsche who played the following day organ on Cry To Me?) as I don't think any overdub was done then. Alternatively, it could be Brian Jones who played organ on That's How Strong My Love Is on the same day.
