Like the Stones say it themselves ; best publicity stunt ever ! I hope that for the 2019 US tour they come up with something fun to make us excited.

Cool recording with good commentaries. It was the first ever performance of Woody as a Rolling Stones.

The voice of Scott Muni really takes me back to the 70s and my teenage years in New York. He's joined by Dave Herman, who some of you may remember as the DJ who introduces Elton John at the beginning of the 11-17-70 (or 17-11-70, depending on where you live) live album. He died in disgrace, in prison, after soliciting sex from a seven-year-old girl. Two other legendary WNEW DJs, Vin Scelsa and Alison "The Nightbird" Steele are mentioned as being there as well. Of the four of them, I think only Scelsa is still alive.

The commentators sound surprised to see Ronnie as the new guitar player at 6:45.

Amazing how before the internet the info/news wasn't moving or very slowly!!!

I remember this so well... I was home sick from school with my ears glued to WNEW-FM and I remember being so psyched when the evening news that night in New York showed 10 or 15 second clips of the Stones on Flatbed Truck. Back in those days one couldn't just summon youtube and watch one of a zillion different shows... And I saw one of the announced shows at Madison Square Garden.... The tickets were EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE (for the era) $12.50. (NO typo there... Twelve dollars and fifty cents) The problem in those days was GETTING TICKETS.... demand was through the roof!

Never heard thd whole version like that; rocking really hot.
those super loud harmony vocals, almost isolated for half second
show a level of energy and intensity that's pretty thrilling.
sounds like a really energized version and Mick is really perfectly
ON attitude and all that...
...quite good. I'd only seen the little very short clips.
The grand entrance timed tactically to Meet The Press,
and also when to give them the 'rolling' away shot...
...p.t. barnum atuff. also a tradition in many locales in America,
especially New Orleans. Louisiana Hayride down 8th Avenue?
anyhoo...
...cool stuff...
really good version imo...lots of fun; Mick looked great i remember
seeing very short clip they used on network affiliate stations
in nyc at the time...

That is why I posted that audio because there are videos on YT but I am not sure if the soundtracks are the real recordings. Here we know it is the real thing.

This one, a TV news report broadcast later that night, uses the original audio, though the somewhat clueless anchorman refers to the band as "Mick Jagger and his regular sidemen, backed up by Billy Preston." Another youtube video, taken from the Stones own 25 x 5 VHS release, dubs in the same recording of "Brown Sugar" that's on Love You Live.
