WOW, thank you proudmary.
I was one of those who thought this was a simple "computer" made cover.
Really great to see it was handmade.

While not as mundane and dated as the needlepoint cover originally
"revealed", still extraordinarily mundane and dated. In fact, from any
distance at all, it still looks like needlepoint.

One thing very appropriate: The last time doing a button collage like this
was cool was 50 years ago.

From the article: "One complicated part of the process was choosing
the right font for the word '50' – some fonts looked too much like the word 'SO'."

1) LOL! "Complicated"! LOL!

2) LOL! Because the truth is they chose one of the very few fonts
where the "5" definitely implies an upper case "S", because of the
downturned serif at the end of the top of the "5". LOL!

3) LOL! The Stones themselves have now implanted what will become the
enduring meme of their 50th, "The Rolling Stones SO?". Damn I should have
thought of that! LOL!

4) The subtle but intentional killing-off of the Stones continues.
It is by far the most fascinating aspect of this anniversary period.

Problems with the fonts for the number 5? What idiot came up with that excuse when they can just put the word FIFTY instead?

Review here of the new Christopher Sandford Rolling Stones book: he has already "done" Mick and Keith separately, so I wonder how much will be in here that isn't already in those (which I have, but I'm not that fond of either of them).

There are so many books at the momnet. All tryin to cash in on the Stones jubilee.
Looked at one of those yesterday in a bookshop: Howard Kremer 50 Years of rock.

While it's not the greatest made book I have to say I really liked some of the nice photos. Some are new, many not. But I don't really care as some pics are just great! For that price - ca. 18,- Euro I'll get me one . .

I think his view 'the Stones peaked in the mid 60's' sums up the writers knowledge of his subject.
