OT: Guitarist/singer Roy Clark has passed

Clark was a superb guitar player and co-host, with the late Buck Owens, of the tee-vee show Hee Haw. His biggest hit, I think, was his version of Charles Aznavour's Yesterday When I Was Young. RIP, Mister Clark.

He was the picker!

Growin' up, I watched Hee Haw for laughs, not really knowing any better, but as my ears found Rock'n'Roll, I came to realize how talented Roy Clark really was! Watch any of the old videos, the man could play about any stringed instrument he picked up!

I've always thought these early musical influences steered me to needing to hear great guitar work... that's what I gravitate towards...

Thank you, Roy Clark!

Him and Jerry Reed were two of my favorite country pickers.

Sad...he was a phenomenal guitar player and multi-instrumentalist.
I was going to post Yesterday When I Was Young (one of my late dad's favorite tunes), but see dmay already did.

Here's a clip of Roy guesting on the Odd Couple tv show playing a great version of Maleguena.

Roy Clark - Malaguena (The Odd Couple)

And an even older clip of a young Roy clowning around on the Jimmy Dean show:

RIP Roy.

A fantastic prodigious self taught musical soul and wonderful entertainer- very sorry to see Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, Les Paul and a whole generation of American musical heroes slip away these past few years...

R.I.P. Roy Clark one of the best . So many memories of him as a kid watching Hee Haw on Saturday nights . Roy Clark could play the frets right off of a fingerboard. Just this morning I seen a you tube clip of him and Glen Cambell tearing it up on Ghost riders of the Sky -amazing !!!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P. (Now he can reunite with the Buckaro himself Buck Owens )

"Hee Haw" made me somewhat dislike Roy Clark and Buck Owens. I was just a little kid when it was first on the air, but it seemed like a cross between the "Lawrence Welk Show" and "The Beverly Hillbillies." I disliked both of those shows.

I learned to appreciate both of those guys later. Buck became hip, especially due to his association with Dwight Yoakum. Roy didn't get that second chance at greater appreciation, but he was one of the best players.
