How the hell could they perform those high energy songs at their age? They can't just turn songs into a waltz, like the Stones did with Get Off of My Cloud.

I saw the DKT/MC5 tour in the mid 2000's and it was excellent. Looks like Kim Thayil from soundgarden and one of the fugazi dudes are on board for this...

Three of them are dead, so the answer to your question is .... they can't.

Pretty cool. Obviously since there's basically none of them left its not really the MC5, but if you're a fan of them its nice to see them getting some recognition. I was never a huge fan of them but Kick Out The Jams was a great song and it seems like they have a killer band joining Wayne. Very much a sign of the times to have a "MC5 50th Anniversary tour", but hey it'll be fun for fans.

hey, Brother Wayne Kramer's not nothing! grinning smiley

I think I may have to go to this even though it's mostly not the original band, I adored the MC5.

The MC5 never sold themselves down the river. Their mistakes were as noble as their successes.

It's going to be jam packed with 75-year-old hippie anarchists marching in the streets! Don't trust anybody over 80!

I saw that tour, too. It was awesome. Mark Arm & Marshall Crenshaw (!!!) on vocals. The show here in Seattle, Kim Thayill played on some of it. This band is interesting combination. Probably will be worth price of admission.

Happy Birthday to Brother Wayne. I'm looking forward to his autobiography. These shows should be excellent. I'm hitting 2 and might squeeze in a 3rd..

Alas they were more numerous too... grinning smiley Like funding the band with drug dealing. That sent Kramer behind bars for a few years...

Just reread "Please Kill Me." Alternately fascinating and disturbing. Waaaaaay disturbing. The effect of drugs, particularly hard drugs, particularly smack, on the 5 and the Stooges...just awful to take in.

My last band always closed with "Kick Out the Jams." Even a bunch of middle aged men couldn't help but go berserk when you hear it coming through the amps and skins.

Sounding great! Really looking forward to the 2 shows in October. Read Wayne Kramers autobiography. Good read, but a lot of stuff left out too.

This is the first gig in 25 years of going to gigs that I've bought a meet and greet ticket for. Signed copy of Kramers book included in the price which was reasonable.

I saw the DKT/MC5 tour back in 2005 and hope these shows are as electric as the one I caught then.

Has anyone been to any of the shows so far?

There are a few recordings of the tour up on DIME! Didn't Kramer audition for the Stones during the Black & Blue sessions?

Wow, I didn’t know this! I knew Gallagher and few of the other better known ones, Much as I love the mc5, I couldn’t see Kramer’s style, I don’t think it would work with the stones

Detroit Cobras would have been a great support act to have caught. Alas not in Seattle or Vancouver. Seattle does have Fitz of Depression though!

I would appreciate your take on the meet and greet. Im afraid I'll go all guitar geek on brother Wayne grinning smiley
