"Start Me Up" is being used in a new advertising campaign for Walmart. It sounded like the original but I didn't have the tv volume on loud. Evil, pure evil! angry smiley

You think that is a sign that the end is near? As if SMU was some kind of holy sacrament...

Isn't it? Trying to think but isn't SMU the "newest" of the warhorses? It ain't "You Got Me Rockin" despite the good riff. SMU was the sound of 1981 for me.

It was pretty damn ingenious when Microsoft used it for Windows '95.

I live in Seattle & am not a big fan of Walmart. I used to do a lot of business up in Alaska. I watched them open a store on Kodiak Island & utterly destroy the entire economy of the island. Not a unique case at all. Maybe they were ok when they originally started but when the founder died & the investment bankers took over it didn't go well for anyone outside of the stock market folks. Pure greed.

I'm Guilty - I buy Shaving Creme and Blades from the local Walmart. Surprisingly, their shopping Cart wheels work for the most part. Besides, the Walmartians are fun to look at. smiling smiley

wonder what the profit margin is on the MAGA hats. if they are at the big W, most likely made in China to squeeze every last penny out of the deal. not that there's anything wrong with that... tongue sticking out smiley

Nike used that without permission, unlike Windows and the Stones...

As I recall, Nike did have the permission of the owner of the song's copyright at that time: Michael Jackson!

How about calling The Stones the "Start Me Up" band? -And how about "Start Me Up" as the opener for every concert on the American "No Filter" leg?

Nike used the real thing: John, Paul, George and Ringo. Soon after the ad hit the airwaves in mid-March, the band’s record label, Apple Records, sued for $15 million, their lawyer claiming that the band hadn’t given their “authorization or permission.” George Harrison said the spot opened the door for the band’s songs to be used to advertise everything from “women’s underwear” to “sausages.” Yet Yoko Ono – who held shares in the Beatles’ record company – had helped broker the original deal. She thought the spot might introduce a new generation to her late husband’s music. Nike stopped running the ads early in 1988, and the case settled out-of-court the next year on terms that have been kept secret since.

When I visited Australia I noticed a Costco on the outskirts of Melbourne and the thing I'm most curious about is, do they sell hot dogs and a drink for $1.50?

would only be $1 with exchange rate, haha. i ordered deluxe midnight oil live package from down under & was pleased with the cost including shipping. shocking that the oils isn't on any release schedule in the states. their tour in 2017 was basically sold out. & wonderful.
