O.T. Londoners, ideas for hotels convenient to Wembley Stadium

Four of us guys are traveling from Seattle to London to see the Seattle Seahawks play the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, October 14 at Wembley Stadium. Although I have been to London on many occasions, I am not sure I've ever been near Wembley, and the hotels nearest to the stadium are very expensive. I'm looking for a 3-4 star but doesn't need to be near the stadium as long as it is easy to reach via tube or taxi.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, brothers and sisters.

I'm not from London, but for Hyde Park #2 in 2013 I've stayed in the Travelodge Hotel (a chain) in Cricklewood - [www.Travelodge.co.uk] . The next Tube-Station (Underground/Subway) Kilburn is 1 mile away and you can easily travel 4 stations with the (grey) Jubilee line from Kilburn Station to Wembley Park Station (and back).

Google Maps: [Goo.gl] .

Btw: 33 Mapesbury Road (where Andrew L. Oldham reportedly locked Mick & Keith in the kitchen for songwriting) is nearby ....

I wouldn’t recommend staying in Wembley it’s not a very nice area of town.
London is huge with many nice areas to stay in and it will be easy to get to Wembley from wherever you stay.
Do you want to be in the centre of town with lots of action or do you prefer somewhere more peaceful?

You might want to consider staying somewhere near a metropolitan line tube station that will take you to Wembley quickly.

Or you could stay near a Jubilee line tube station.

If you found a hotel near Baker Street you could catch either Metropolitan line or Jubilee line to Wembley from there.

Don't stay in Wembley. It's a shithole.

You're better off residing centrally & using the Underground.

The wembley area is fine.
But still a lot of construction works.
They are in the middle of creating a brand new ‘creative district’.

Not very close to central London, but with the tube nothing is really far.
I book the ibis hotel, close to stadium and arena, very often.
If you don’t need anything fancy, that is. Friendly people and everthing is always clean.

Generally yes but........

the area around the stadium is much improved. Shops and restaurants are now plentiful. The area itself is as safe as any other area in London. Hotels should be less expensive than in central London.

There're an IBIS as well as an NOVOTEL in Wembley - have a look on the map of the [www.AccorHotels.com] group.

Or search for a Hotel on [www.Hotels.com] or [www.HRS.com] ....

AMEN .... 100 percent correct. Wembley is exactly that, a s**thole !!

Stay in central London or SW London and use public transport to get there & back

It would have been a very different place back then as would other parts of London that are now undesirable.
Do you think Mr Watts would desire to live there now.

stay about 20 mins out but near a tube station.

the tube is handy for almost all of london.

its much cheaper out of the centre.

last time i was in london i stayed in ealing broadway in a premier inn, got it for a lot lower rate than central london.

I just love Wembley, because you get accomodation at half price vs central London. Also there is a local pub just down the road, no tourists there, so it will give you cheap beers and the locals sitting at the same chairs and sofas drinking the same every night, with their husband/wife, then leaving at the same time every night, some at 10pm, some at 10:15pm, and of course some at closing hours.

I stayed at H.I. Wembley when the Stones played at the O2 in 2012. The tube took an hour but I had a great room, and could do a lot of work. The O2 is far away so the hour on the tube is not compatible for city travel.

There is a train station right next to the Holiday Inn and the IBIS at Wembley, the train pass by often, and it is just one stop to Maylebone, very cental London.

Holiday Inn London Wembley is a great 3-star hotel, they do usually have rooms at 100 pounds per night next week.

Ibis London Wembley Hotel is usually a bit cheaper than 100 pounds, but the rooms are still great.

In the city a decent room without cockroaches would cost the double i.e. 200 pounds. If you don't care about bugs in the room then stay cheap in the Paddington area, but youy will never return to those hotels, except for the Hilton.

If I want som extra travel and staying comfort I stay at Hilton Paddington, it is right on Paddington station, easy access to Wembley (Bakerloo line or via Marylebone), and of course just 15 minutes by airport express to Heathrow. Saving a lot of time to the airport, rooms are usually 200 pounds but cheaper if you enroll for free to the Hilton Honors club, then you also get free internet, not always free in UK hotels.
