Future of No Filter Tour
Posted by: kevos ()

Just wondering peoples thoughts on what the future holds for this tour?

With the campaign for this run being dubbed 'No Stopping' and Keith saying last night that they were just getting started, is this just patter or do they have real plans to continue?

We know Mick was seen having a meeting in Chicago a few months back but that could of been about any number of projects. The exhibit is currently in the states and Its heading to Australia so could they be planning to take the tour to one of these countries.

Will Europe get a 3rd bite of the cherry in 2019/2020 or will it all be over after Poland in July

They will tour until 2028 at least.

More seriously, they will as long as it will be possible

There's still time for some gigs this autumn!

No offence to the good people of Poland, but I seriously doubt the Stones are intent on winding down their performing career in Warsaw of all places.

The exhibitionism link is irrelevant. Theyve never arranged a tour to coincide with wherever its being staged, as far as I'm aware.

I seriously doubt they plan anything more than about a year ahead now. It'll go on until they either get bored with it, are all physically unable to do it to a standard they feel acceptable or if one of them dies.

Musicians who are enjoying their work, are healthy, capable of playing and still able to make a lot of money dont tend to retire voluntarily.

Steel Wheels was the zimmer frame tour according to newspapers at the time. God knows how long they'll keep thing for. I look at my mum and dad and I look at Mick in particular and have to forcibly remind myself they are the same age. Long may it continue but i don't know if the stones would tour sitting down like BB King did? Time waits for no one.

You know I am a huge AC/DC fan, my fav band.
I am experienced so.
Sorry but the Stones, just my opinion, are Mick and Keith.
The Glimmer Twins would tour together without Charlie or Ronnie. Under the Stones banner certainly.

I would assume something like:

No Filter Europe 2017
No Filter UK 2018
No Filter US/CAN/ASIA 2019 (early till late 2019)

Similar to 50/14, Licks and other tours.
2016 was their last gig in the US, and a big tour in 2015.
2014 was Asia.

If they release a new album the tour in 2019 might have a new name. Or the release a live album No Filter - which I would love to see as well as a new one.

Based on recent history, they'll continue to do a handful of dates every year as long as:

- the demand is there
- their health holds up
- Charlie doesn't retire

I do not believe Mick and Keith would continue without Ronnie or Charlie at this point. Yes, they're the Glimmer Twins, but they're simply too old to go about breaking in new members. It's been the four of them for 26 years, their longest stable lineup.

I'd be very surprised if the No Filter tour doesn't hit North America next year or, less likely, this autumn.

It's a great stage, they are playing very well on this tour, so no need to stop.

By the time it is 2019 it will have been four years since the last proper US tour, and that was mainly secondary markets, i.e., they didn't play the usual primary markets like NYC, LA, Chicago, San Francisco etc... The last time they played those cities was 2013 (2012 for NYC). That's certainly a big enough gap.

It seems like the band is having a blast, they're mixing up the set lists a little and their playing keeps getting stronger. Long live the No Filter tour! I would love to see some North American dates announced.

Is the current stage set up capable to be scaled down to arena size?

Not at this stage. No way would they blood replacements now.

At their age, it would be the perfect excuse to stop. The two of them havent been close friends for decades. The motivation wouldnt be there.

Theres no comparison in terms of a band dynamic to ACDC. They replaced their singer for Chrissakes. Twice.

Keith in The Telegraph, February 2018 -

Asked what it would take to bring the Rolling Stones' long run to an end, Richards is unequivocal: "Somebody keeling over."

i hope that when someone dies, they will call it quits.

to keep touring after death of a band member would disrupt the continuity of the band as they have had enough personel changes yet survived as the same band although many view the change from jones to taylor as being a huge difference in the bands direction.

i wouldnt want them to end up like status quo or pink floyd with continuing with 2 or even 1 original member.

and please, no all sitting down tours cos bb kind did it.

that would kill the legacy.

please quit when the times right.

the future is right behind us…
No, I guess there will be at least an US leg of the No Filter tour. Some time afterwards there will be a No Filter live album. And some more time laster there will be another tour.
I just can't imagine that they'll give up the NoFilter tour/stage design etc after just 28 shows in Europe

They replaced their singer three times: Evans, Scott, Johnson and Rose.

Staging this show in an arena is no problem. They played indoor shows last year in Paris, Netherlands and a few others

Those venues in Paris and Arnhem are domed stadiums that can accommodate rugby/football matches - i.e. large playing fields.

Can't imagine those giant LED panels in a basketball/hockey arena.

EDIT: specs for the panels - 23 meters high by 11 meters wide (per WIcreations)

So there's no need to imagine any further - it ain't happenin'.

True...they might be able to fit one of them sideways.

Those mentioning the mighty reaper... The day death strikes one of them, I hope they go out like the Grateful Dead did with "The Other Ones"/"The Dead"/"Dead & Company" and just tour as "The Stones"! As long as Mick is there, I'm there! (I'm late to the party and have only seen the band 4 times, so I'm willing to consider any new alternative that should spring up. Yup.)
