I grew up in Detroit, so believe me, I knew that.
In fact me and Elmo saw him about 1-2 years ago.
He put on a great show.
Here's a pic of his drummer from way back in the 60's.
What a set !!
Seger and Drummer

Did he do "Hollywood Nights"?

Have always loved that song. Partly because I grew up in LA and eventually had my own house in the Hollywood hills. Lived an often tumultuous life. I used to roar up the Cahuenga Pass at 2AM in the morning and listen to this song in the car.

Re MarvPeck's post, what great memories you have. I hope you were never a Kid Rock fan later! For me, Seger is head and heels above KR.

Actually that was last April , Marv.

Great show as always - and yes, Hollywood Nights is one of the encores. Bob and the band look to be having a great time onstage. Alto Reed is AMAZING.

I just saw him at MSG. Aside from Bruce guesting onstage, which was amazing as I'm as big a Bruce fan as Bob, the show was fantastic. He sounded phenomenal and the band was great. The show was a bit pricey but it was something I'm happy I didn't miss. I've loved him since I was a baby so this was a great experience. I never thought I'd see him once, let alone 3 times in my life. This most recent one was the best yet.

Is Don Brewer still playing drums for Seger?

Yup. And still great as ever. Him and Alto are truly the musicians that shine during the show.

Going on the 21st to see him in Oakland. Bob always puts on a good show. Here's a recent setlist from the current tour.

Yes, same guy. Also had former lead singer for Little Feat, Shawn Murphy, on backup vocals. Not to mention a couple guys that have been in his band for 40 years on bass and sax, and his piano player for 30 years (who is phenominal).

Just saw him Friday, great show. Couple dozen songs, 2 2-song encores, about a 2 hour show.

Saw him at the old Civic Arena in Baltimore the Friday after Thanksgiving. Great show. Don Brewer, the drummer from Grand Funk Railroad, has joined the band again.

I'm from the Ontario / Michigan border area, Bob Seger was a 'name' to the local area far before he went 'mainstream.' I've always loved the song 'Rosalie' from Bob's 'Back in '72 album.' (Thin Lizzy covered it, later) which was about Rosalie Trombley. People in the Detroit/Windsor area and beyond were familiar with radio station CKLW out of Windsor Ontario, a 50,000 watt station covering the midwest and southern Ontario. Getting airplay there was HUGE, back in the day. Album rock, baby! Rosalie was music director and as Seger sang, "she's got the tower, she's got the power, Rosalie." Trombley refused to ever play the Thin Lizzy version.

So glad to read your mention of Rosalie. She is the greatest! A big, big help to me when I decided that Elton John should have a "crossover" hit with "Bennie and the Jets."

People like Rosalie made radio great...and much missed.

To follow up -

Took a look down a westbound road,
Right away I made my choice
Headed out to my big two-wheeler,
I was tired of my own voice
Took a bead on the northern plains
And just rolled that power on

Twelve hours out of mackinaw city
Stopped in a bar to have a brew
Met a girl and we had a few drinks
And I told her what I'd decided to do
She looked out the window a long long moment
Then she looked into my eyes
She didn't have to say a thing,
I knew what she was thinkin'

Roll, roll me away,
Won't you roll me away tonight
I too am lost, I feel double-crossed
And I'm sick of what's wrong and what's right
We never even said a word,
We just walked out and got on that bike
And we rolled
And we rolled clean out of sight

We rolled across the high plains
Deep into the mountains
Felt so good to me
Finally feelin' free

Somewhere along a high road
The air began to turn cold
She said she missed her home
I headed on alone

Stood alone on a mountain top,
Starin' out at the great divide
I could go east, I could go west,
It was all up to me to decide
Just then I saw a young hawk flyin'
And my soul began to rise
And pretty soon
My heart was singin'

Roll, roll me away,
I'm gonna roll me away tonight
Gotta keep rollin, gotta keep ridin',
Keep searchin' till I find what's right
And as the sunset faded
I spoke to the faintest first starlight
And I said next time
Next time
We'll get it right

Uh...I think I meant that too Elmo, musta been a typo, huh?

Stones Rule, nope not a KId Rock fan, not even when he got busted
here at the Waffle House ....

I think it was 68 when I first saw Bob.
He was playing at a high school.
Great show even though.

Heavy Music and Ramblin Gamblin Man ...

Rock n Roll never forgets!

I really hope, that Bob Seger & Silver Bullet Band come also to Europe for some concerts. It must be 30 years, that they were the last time here. And I would like to see them before I die.

Well, you'll never win the "sense of humour' award that way! Excuse me for disagreeing with you!
