Well,out of these two (arguably) definitive Keith songs, which do you like better?

If you had to choose?

Both great, but Happy has that in your face riff that just grabs you. That bright Exile riffage that is dirty, gritty, but HAPPY!

And he didn't have to nearly blow up the band to get to a place where he could write it.

BTMMR is a pretty good Keith song. Happy is a classic by any definition.

Yeah BTMMR has far better lyrics in the verses erm, at least some days.... but that "never wanna be like papa working for the boys every nite and day" is arguaby the best line in the Stones catalogue so....

I LOEV ALL KEITH'S TUNES EQUALLY, EXCEPT MAYBE FOR THRU & THRU AND THE WORST, THEY DON'T REACH THE HEIGHTS OF BTMMR, HAPPY, COMING DOWN AGAIN, INFAMY AND I WANNA HOLD YOU AND ALL ABOUT YOU AND SLIPPING AWAY AND CONNECTION.....

ähm the worst is MUCH better than infamy!

Happy is not a great Keith song...Is just one of R&R greatest songs ever.

As StonesTod would say, they're both better.

I like both songs, but my signature tells everything.

"Happy" is one of my favorite Stones songs period, "Before They Make Me Run" isn't even one of my favorite Keith songs.

It is just a great song...I also think Keith sings it a little bit better then

I agree..to the point..I think he´s lower register is great, reminds me of Tom Waits and Johnny Cash...but the delivery is there in We Had It All already - and that's in 70?

I feel BTMMR tells a better story of where Keith was in his life... but Happy is the better song.

Happy. Keith's rock anthem. All of his rock lies in those simple but tremendously efficient riffs. If there was one song to be remembered by Keith, it is that one. Or "Love in Vain".

I think Happy and Before They make Me Run are pretty much equally great. But Keith has so many great tunes. If you had to choose a "signature" tune it would probably be Happy.
