The sound was absolutely crystal clear at all five of the shows I went to.

Even the two (Padua and Leeds) where I was nowhere near the stage.

probably the best sound I've ever experienced at Springsteen shows, in fact.

The only one on this tour (out of eight) which was less than great was the first Dublin one last year, and that was more to do with it simply not being loud enough. It was much better the second night.

The sound is bad because there are 16 or so people playing every instrument known to man very loud in a stadium. I saw him last year in a 15,000 seater and sounded awful to the human ear, however, listening to a recording of the show later it sounded better.

actually, there are "only" 14 players on stage (the other 3 are backing vocalists), and luckily not all the instruments are played all together all the time.
a lot of songs feature "only" 7 or 8 instruments, some are even more stripped down than that, and some are even performed by Bruce alone on the piano or guitar.
ie: "I'm on Fire" only features one keyboard, one guitar, bass and drums; "Wild Billy", played last night, features just 3 acoustic instruments; "Meeting Across the River" features just piano, bass and trumpet.

Hello,

@SilverDagger & MOWAT: Mike'n'Chris, the cheques are on their way Guv'nors, hah-hah!

@Brooooocefansotherwise: The bloke is a terrific live turn, whether surrounded by similar amounts of musicians that UB40 used to have or solo. Must admit, what I'd give to see him, Max, Gary, Roy, Steve and Nils plug in and play...garage stuff covers, you-name-it!

@Non-Brooooocefansotherwise: As a wise man said to me once...this love of music ain't a competition. Springsteen...great. Tons of other giants...great. Live music...can be/hopefully is great. End of.

Cheers,

Simon.

It's amazing how jealous and defensive some of you get towards the Stones' competition.

The amount of unwarranted vitriol and bile hurled at the following acts just makes you look petty and small-minded:

- Springsteen
- U2
- McCartney

The fact is that the acts above sometimes surpass the Stones, whether it be in their playing, their set lists, the sound, or the stage show.

The Stones will always be #1 to me, but it doesn't mean that I can't admire what other bands are doing or say that other acts are putting on better shows than the Stones.

Yep. Jungleland is so similar to Cadillac Ranch, Drive all Night and Devils & Dust that I have trouble telling them apart too.

How old are you? 95?

The sound at the shows I saw on this tour was excellent. Both arenas and stadiums.

You obviously never listened to Springsteen's music. What you wrote is just a pathetic and infantile attempt to bash him at any price.

Considering your user name. I'm sure you'd be much happier listening to Ted Nugent.

It has become a "Big Band" concert with his 15-20 something musicians.
It is too much show and too little music.

Happy Stones are down-scaling to at max. 10-11 musicians.
soozie on stage = no sale

Well, I like his politics. You know, the kind that keep the country running as opposed to giving everyone hand-outs (like France and Greece). DUH

you don't have to be an expert to hear the difference between an acoustic protest song and an up beat keyboard driven song

A Springsteen cover band played in a park close enough to my home yesterday I could hear it through my window. I shut my window.

wait, I lost track of the topic. Someone said they liked Ted Nugent's politics?

There's not really a good response to something like that, just let it ring in the air. Kind of tells you something about this country that there are people out there who look up to a supreme douchebag like Nugent.

Oh, and this is the same dude who claims to not like Bruce because all his music sounds alike? Not his politics, of course, but because he doesn't have the diverse musical palette of a Nugent.

Who said there's no reason to come here between tours?

As is the tedious, knuckle-dragging troll who keeps reinventing himself and whose comments give him away in seconds. Maybe you could tell us, mickscarey, how come you were dumb enough to go and see Bruce about 10-20 times in the 70s and 80s before you realised 'all his songs are the same'.

A bit like your posts. drinking smiley

Running deep into the worst depth the world has ever seen for a country, you mean?
